The dealer installed a sunroof defelctor on my G. I think I want to take it off for appearance reasons. I just want to make sure that there won't be any "turbulence" in the cabin without it. I know the roof has a deflector pop up when you open it. Does anyone have a noise/ turbulence problem w/ the roof open? Thx

Re: Sunroof Question
VQ, I have never had any problem with "turbulence" in the cabin (cockpit!!). At speeds below 65, the wind noise is not bad, but going faster, I usually close the top. Hope that helps.

Re: Sunroof Question
I'd be inclined to agree. I don't like the way the tack-on deflectors look. Obviously, there's a little more noise with the sunroof open, but not too much. No turbulence at all, as far as I can tell.

Re: Sunroof Question
My G's have been fine without a deflector. No need for one.

Re: Sunroof Question
What is the best way to uninstall it? It has a gasket that I could just force off. Any suggestions? Thx

Re: Sunroof Question
The G's sunroof is very quiet. And I love the way the shade completely disappears...

Re: Sunroof Question
How I reduce turbulence when the sunroof is open, is I open both rear windows about halfway and keep the front windows shut. It provides a nice gentle breeze.

Re: Sunroof Question
I had a deflector installed myself on my 12 y-old max, it helped a little for reducing the noise with roof open, not much.
not this time for my G35.
to uninstall it, 2 screws hold down the deflector, the screws are L shaped, the L hooks the opening of roof, unscrew them until the L shape looses the grip on roof, then deflector can be removed easily.

30ALL

Will I have holes in my roof or is it designed to pop up some how and just grab the deflector?

Re: Sunroof Question
No holes, like one of the earlier post said, there are 2 flat metal hooks that screw into the deflector and the other end hooks onto the lip of the roof opening. The deflector is plexiglass molded to fit about 3 inches in front of the opening and 1 inch to the sides, it usually covers about 4 inches of the front of the opening of the sunroof. So when you look up with one installed, you look through the deflector.
The rubber piece that they use to prevent scratching where the deflector contacts the roof, actually traps dirt etc under it, scratching the roof of the car as the deflector moves around.
I took all the ones I have on my other cars off and will not put one on the "G".

Re: Sunroof Question
Yeah, the rubber gasket left a mark on my old Toyota that I could never remove! Could also be fading from UV as well over a few years.
