I was waiting for curbside pickup at Outbacks this evening in my '03 sedan and noticed a strange noise from the dash/center console. Every few seconds, I heard what sounded like a high pitched chirp. It was barely audible but noticeable. I only noticed it because I was reading and had the car and radio off which rarely happens. At first I thought it might be related to the blinking security light on the console but this wasn't the case. I even checked for the sound later in the evening and it was still there. Anyone else notice this? Is it normal?

 

Do a search here on beeps, I think I've seen this discussed before. I believe at least one person thought it was the clock, while I chimed in (no punn intended) on it being the nav system re-routing, and other such ideas came to mind. Guess I can at least say, it's not just you.

Thanks for the help. I just read the messages in the post you gave and didn't find a definitive explanation for the noise. I don't have NAV so it can be ruled out. And I don't think it's related to the blinking alarm light.
