Please explain the details of autocross. I'm not familiar with it.

The only part of the system that remains engaged is the Brake LSD. It hasn't been a problem for me, probably because the Bridgestone Turanza tires don't have enough grip for me to push the car hard enough to engage it. (Just a guess.) Though, on one of my launches off the line, I did notice the slip light blink after I got moving a bit (mild brake-torque launch, no turning, going straight, dry pavement) -- strange.

It's a sanctioned SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) type of racing. It generally takes place in a parking lot, air strip, or race track, and they create a short road course with traffic cones. You run against the clock, not wheel-to-wheel, so it's safe for beginners and amateurs to run their daily driver cars. Cars are divided into classes based on the model and level of modification. The website above has links to regional clubs, so you should be able to find the club in your area.

I've been looking for this for a while. We used to have something like this in North Cal at the Pleasonton Fairplex. Even thought of setting something up at the Pomona raceway myself.
Can you provide infomation on any events in So. Cal?

I'm in San Diego. I have not participated in any of the CalClub (LA) events, yet.

Disclaimer: I should probably point out that forcing your car to drift at a Solo2 event will A) generally hurt your lap times, B) possibly make you go off course, which could possibly result in colliding with something (light poles, fences, K-rails), and C) is frowned upon by the Solo2 crowd. You don't want to drift at these things anyway... you want to carve smooth lines between the cones.
