03 Sedans DO YOU HAVE MAJOR EXHAUST EXPANSION NOISES?

Hey all, my 2003 Sedan seems to have always had an excessive amount of "exhaust expansion noise". The clicking is pretty loud and constant after I drive and turn off, it's honestly slightly embarassing when I pull into work and other people are in the lot and my car is clicking like its about to explode. I have asked several techs about this and they all say it's just heat expansion in the exhaust but i have had quite a few cars and they have never had such loud exhaust expansion noise.

Anyone else noticed this issue or is it just me? I thought upgrading my mid-pipe to the 2005 sedan middy would reduce the noise but it doesen't seem to have helped.

I complained about the same thing when I had my old '03. I know exactly what you mean and was told the exact same thing by everyone. Hence the question, why doesn't my '05 do the same? I can finish an eight hour cruise, park it and there would be no noise. I suspect it is coming from the midpipe as it is the largest piece in the system.

It's all dependant on the location of the car (inside/outside, nearby concrete floors and walls), ambient temps, humidity, and how hard the car has been driven. It doesn't bother me because I usually don't hang out around my car after driving it. If you guys think the noise is loud on a G, take a listen at Vette, Porsche, or Subaru.

I haven't noticed any clicking for over a year now, but I did replace my exhaust with dual. No clicking there.

I have an 03.5 sedan and have had it for 3 years. I have never heard the clicking noise you describe.

ALmost all the hondas we've owned did the clicking noise along with my 06 G35 as well. I don't know how to noise is produced, pretty interested in knowing, but the noise is a result of the pipes contracting after being heted up.

I've owned many a car that has this noise. Not on my G, but it's a normal sound of the metal changing temperature and expanding/contracting. Nothing to worry about at all. Now, I can't say I've owned any cars that do this excessively loudly like you're describing, but then again I don't know what loud means from just your description.

I had it big time until I upgraded to Borla.

I will admit the G is pretty loud after a good drive. I wouldn't say it's embarrassing though. After pushing the car a bit I would expect it to make the popping sound quite loud. My Explorer isn't as loud as the G though.

Mine makes noise after the drive, and sometimes i can even hear it while the car is on, if I am idling at a light or something. I had the noise real bad with my stock exhaust and then I switched to the 05 Mid-Pipe and HKS rear section and the noise still persists. boo hoo. It is the type of noise that worries me, makes me think "maybe I should get rid of this car before this noise turns into a serious issue" but everyone tells me it is just heat expansion in the exhaust, although one guy said it sounds like there are some little rocks or something caught in the heat shield that may be popping around (sounds weird though). anyway if anyone else has any considerations please chime in.

I take it back, I heard a little ticking the other night after a good drive. Not nearly as bad as the stock exhaust though.
