Stock air filter dirty @ just 4200 miles

I just noticed my stock air filter has a lot of crud on it after just 4200 miles. Three questions:

1. Has anyone else seen this or is it just because I live in L.A.
2. Any suggestions for a good replacement filter (other than just getting one down at the auto parts store).
3. I leased my sedan; does anyone know if installing the Stillen intake will violate my lease/warranty.

Thanks all,

Ray

It shouldn't violate the lease. You may want to store your stock intake to put back on when it's time to turn it in, however.

Personally, I don't plan on modifying my car as long as it's a lease, because I don't want to waste the money if I don't buy it out at the end.

If you don't wanna spend the money on the stillen (given that that's a lease and all, just get a k&n drop in filter adn, most importantly a z-tube. Will be a lot less grief to deal with if the dealer says something, givent hat you are just using a nissan tube; thefileter should provide some of the benefit of the stillen!

If you don't plan on buying the car after the lease is over, I would just put back a stock air filter. I personally would not do any mods to a lease vehicle. Just my $0.02!!!
