I Bought A Set Of Hawks Hps Compound Brake Pads For My 05 G Sedan.
I Did Not Like Them They Where Vertually Not Noise Free By Far.they Squell And I Have To Stomp On Them @ A Stop Light And If I Dont They Make Noise And Start Kreeping . So I Bought A Set Of Porterfields. Ill Try Those On And Will Se Whats Up

 

Did you properly perform the bed in procedure?

 

Brake quiet is your friend....you have to use a lot! no squeaks here. I've had Hawk HPS pads on brembos for about 16k miles..

 

I have had HPS pads on my BBK for about 9 months and I love them. How long have you had them? Did you even get through the break in?

You'd be surprised at how many throw on the pads & kick them out the door w/o even doing a test drive.

whats proper break in with brake pads? anyone have detailed procedures?

 

Mine were part of the break in for my BBK.
Let me see if I can find it. I was something like 10 stops with 50% pressure from 30-40, cool down and then 5 hard stops from 60 with another full cool-down.

 

... "cool down" is one minute of driving at 60 mph without breaking.

Actually, I'm having the same issue with my Hawk HPS pads. And yes I did the proper bed in procedure as well. I have the same groan/noise when I'm almost completely stopped and lightly touching the brakes. However, I'm not getting the squeaking....yet.
I feel that the stopping power of the Hawks isn't nearly as good as the stock pads, but I have to say, I have almost no brake dust what so ever.

I haven't changed brakes on my G yet, but replaced stock with power slot vented rotors and EBC green stuff pads on my last vehicle (Honda Pilot). I found a noticeable difference in braking. I didn't really follow the break in, but there was never any noise. BTW Honda makes the sh..iest brakes. Either the rotors warp or the pads wear too quickly. And don't get me started on their transmissions. '97 Civic 5 spd, 2 trans in 150,000 miles.

 

Easiest solution to your problem is to roll up the windows and crank up the music. If you don't hear it, its not there

 

I have Hawks. No problem at all.
