RWD, all aluminum suspension, upper/lower a-arm suspension vs crappy struts, 10x better looks, superior weight balance, etc...etc..etc......

I have an 03 and love it. My biggest problem was when my CD player wouldn't give my CDs back. I have already upgraded the rotors and pads, so that isn't a problem. The only stuff that gets screwed up now is the stuff the dealer touches. I think they would screw up a G of any year.

Love my car & wouldn't buy a different car if I had to do it all over again. Rattles from interior are very common with this car as well as other quirky noises owners have experienced. Definitely recommend aftermarket pads for less dust (I went w/ Hawk HPS & difference is night & day).

I hope I am reading this wrong. Are you saying you think the Max has these over the G??

Ok, before I post, I'm just going to say I like the G better so please don't get mad. I'm just playing the devil's advocate since some people asked and I'm trying to outline the differences between the Max and the G and why someone would see a Max as better value ... so here we go ...

BTW, doesn't a bimmer have mc-struts up front? I thought the Maxima has a similar aluminum suspension set up especially at the back anyway? "z-inspired" *LOL* And yes, the Max has a 25/36 mpg fuel consumption.

Anyway, depending on which year you're comparing the Max and the G. Say 2006, here are some differences ...

The Maxima SE with Leather Package vs. the G sedan with no package (so that they are about the same price for comparison purposes - Canadian specs) and I'm comparing just on features and not how they drive cuz we all know which one is better dynamically :
- Bi-xenon headlights for both high and low beams
- Mud guards
- Dual power folding exterior mirrors with auto-dimming and auto-reverse tilt-down features
- Skyview glass panels or sunroof with pre-select switch
- P245/45-18 tires
- information centre and trip computer
- Bluetooth
- Intelligent key
- Dual-zone automatic climate control with rear vents
- homelink
- Power tilt and telescopic steering wheel
- Auto-dimming rear view mirror
- Memory system linked to steering wheel and outside mirrors
- Heated steering wheel
- 60/40 rear folding seats
- 8-speakers Bose stereo with ipod plug

So that's why for many, the Max can be a convincing choice. As for me, I've been there, done that, so now for the upgrade! hehehe

common probs

1. Never ending rattles and squeaks on both ends.
2. Navigation screen dimming
3. Very poor resale. Bought at $40K OTD trade-in of $17K or lower
4. Bad brakes 03-04
5. Severe, I mean severe road noise on freeways. My Honda civic is better.
6. Expensive tires at 215/55/17 sizes
7. Oil consumption - about 0.75 to 1 quart at the end of 3-4K miles
8. Plasticky interior

Now the good.
1. Torque when you need it.
2. Relatively OK service dept. at the dealership
3. Slightly roomy than a GS300
4. cheap bolt-ons

Lastly, you must own the car for 6-7 years if bought new to lessen depreciation hit or buy used.

There. That's 4 years of ownership.

wow awesome respones, thanks!

I'm set on getting a G ... the road noise is uncomforting to know though. One of the reasons I was looking forward to the "luxorious" G35 was it would be alot quieter than my maxima! I drive on the freeway all the time so this has always been a pet peeve ... never had the time to insulate the doors, wheel wells, etc.

when it comes to handling, the G >>>>>>> any modded maxima. Even stock, the G handles light years better than my maxima with a strut tower brace, rear sway bar, Eibach springs, and 245/40/18 tires on SSR GT-1s...

the engine noise on the G is louder than my maxima as well... albeit it's a 3.0...

there is no way the G has severe road noise...with the right tire set up and soft music playing...there is absolutely no noise...I had a honda civic and I couldn't even talk on the phone when im going 80 because no one would be able to hear me with all the noise and the steering wheel vibrating. Well I did have a 2000 Si with a loud exhaust...but that's beside teh point. The G is very comfortable on the freeway.

-its funny about all the handling comments. my 04 g35x handles like a 72 buick with bad shox.. infact if i cant rectify it with after market suspension im gonna cut my loses and just go back to bmws.
my 540i sport 6spd with 100k miles stock smoked my g on every level.. and it weighs 400lbs more..(fyi i know its a much more expensive car , just stating)
that and the tranny shifting on the g35x stresses me out cause it takes so long to kik down to a passing gear.
other than that its been fine for all the city driving i do.

you got no room to complain as you bought the G that doesn't come with a sport suspension. I suggest you drive one with sport and you will definetly change your tune
