'06 sedan requires new bracket for aftermarket exhaust?

can anyone confirm for me that the '06 sedan requires a bracket/hangers for an aftermarket exhaust (that's not stillen)? in particular, anyone put an HKS on an 06??

thanks!

yep requires the bracket from the 03-04, you can find it on everything35.com

You need the bracket. The 06's are the same as my 05 and I needed the bracket from the 03-04's because that the HKS was designed based on the earlier models.

You will need the bracket and the two rubber hangers.

Exclamation get the parts from your Infiniti dealer

Pretty much all aftermarket exhausts for the G35 Sedan are designed to mount to the '03 - '04 stock hanger locations.
(Stillen is an exception, which uses all its own hardware.)
This means any '05+ will need to convert to the prior configuration.
As mackinnr & jameyb stated, this basically requires 1 metal bracket, 2 rubber mounting hangers, and 2 screws.

Recommend purchasing straight from an Infiniti dealer vs. g35parts A.K.A EverythingG35.
They get the parts from Infiniti of Scottsdale anyways.
My reason being:
  • Purchased the "2005 Sedan Rear Muffler Bracket Kit" from g35parts after comparing their 2 websites w/ S&H.
  • http://infinitipa.zoovy.com/
  • Sent e-mails before the purchase, trying to confirm the "Kit" included 2 rubber mounting hangers-- No reply.
  • Attempted calling on a Saturday-- No pickup/voicemail.
  • Despite this, bit-the-bullet and put order through.
  • Replied to order confirmation e-mail asking "Does this kit include two rubber hangers along with the bracket?"
  • Received reply from DMajkowicz stating "Yes, It comes with both hangers and the bracket."
  • Got the shipment a few days later, lo-and-behold, the kit only includes 1 rubber mounting hanger! *bastards*
  • Itemization of receipt shows charge for only 1 part# 20651-AF400 so I didn't bother disputing.
  • Went to my local Infiniti dealer and got a hanger from the parts dept.
Other than getting all the parts from your local dealer, you can order from a website like http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...49&catalogid=0

'05 & '06 Sedans need the following:
1 INF 20742-AF400 (Metal Exhaust Mounting Assembly Rear Bracket)
2 INF 20651-AF400 (Rubber Exhaust Mounting Rear Hanger)
2 INF/NIS 08146-8252G (Metal Standard Hardware Screw)

FYI, you don't absolutely have to buy the screws. If you unbolt the 05-06 bracket then you can just use those bolts to secure the 03-04 bracket.

good call on re-using the bolts. I'm all for saving a buck I actually haven't done the install yet-- waiting `till I do the next oil change.

yeah, a tad bit whack that "kit" of theirs

actually, you might be better off ordering the parts Online, because this way the dealer does not take down your information/add remarks to your record... when I got the part from the dealer, the parts guy typed in a whole bunch of who-knows-what. I bet he typed in something like "Check to see if any warranty claim can be denied due to aftermarket exhaust, b/c he bought a exhaust hanger." Yeah, whatever, not like I'd re-install the stock muffler if I were to service my car at the dealer.

Can someone help me with the orientation of the metal mounting bracket. Do the rods point to the rear or front? Is the bolting plate above or below the rods after it is installed on the car? Pictures would sure help.....your assistence is very much aappreciated.

just bring it to a muffler shop and they should be able to make a custom hanger with no issues. i have an aftermarket 22" magnaflow hi-flo resonator and they had to build a custom set up for me
