06 G35 Sedan - Aftermarket Amp Install Questions...

Let me preface this post with I searched and searched for the answers I am looking for and I came up empty. I had an 03 Coupe and did a full install myself including running 4 gauge power wire from the battery to the trunk, tapping into the Bose amp with an LOC and basically disassembling half of the car. When I did this about 2 years ago there were some outstanding DIY posts with step by step instructions on how to do everything including taking the car apart. Thing is I have never seen anything equivalent for the Sedan - and I just got rid of my Coupe and moved to a Sedan so I am trying to transplant the amp and sub box to my new Sedan.

So here are my questions - hopefully some of you experts out there can help me out or refer me to a post if this has already been asked and I overlooked it while searching:

1. First thing I did was take off the cover in the trunk that is over (underneath) the sub, amp, etc. in the rear deck in the Sedan. Only question I have here is that to the left of the sub looks like the Bose amp, and to the right of the sub is....what? Can't figure out what that smaller silver box is - sure it will be obvious after you tell me. :-)

2. Looks like I can run the power wire from the battery through the rubber grommet behind the battery just as I did in the Coupe. My question is how do I go about getting it to the trunk. In the Coupe I lifted up the side sills and pulled out the back seat completely (back and bottom). In doing so it made it extremely easy to run it to the trunk. How do I get it back there in the Sedan? Better yet is there a DIY? It seems like I am going to have to take out the back seat - just not sure how?

3. In my Coupe, I tapped into the head unit output rear right and left coming from the Bose amp and ran it to the LOC. In the Coupe's Bose amp the wire colors were as follows: head unit output rear right + = BLUE, head unit output rear right - = PINK, head output rear left + = TEAL, and head unit output rear right + = PURPLE. Are the wire colors coming from the Bose amp in the Sedan the same?

If there is anything else that I need to know regarding adding an amp to power a separate sub box that would be different in the Sedan compared to the Coupe, then please share.

Thanks in advance!

I did an exaustive search there already with no success regarding my questions above.

Can anyone help me out? Please!

1. Not sure what that is. (It's been like 3 years since I did my install). Maybe SAT if you have it.

2. Run the cable the same way. Down the passengers side under the carpet, take out the rear seat and run it up the rear fender through a foam grommet in the rear next to the shock tower. Do you have reclining seats? If so, you may need to remove those to get the side panel off.

3. The wire colors are different. I can check my shop manual to tell you. What year is your car?

1. I don't have SAT - I'll keep searching through the service manual and see if I can figure it out - no biggie, just curious.

2. I looked at the service manual regarding removing the rear seat and it was far from clear. Do you have any pointers? I can't even really tell where to start based on the instructions in the service manual. This is probably my biggest stumbling block.

3. I did find a post regarding wire colors since I posted this originally and it said that wire colors were the same so now I am concerned. Are you sure? I have an 06 Sedan.

Thanks for the feedback!

I'm bumping this one....

I know there are a large number of you out there that have done sub/amp installs yourself to your Sedans. Was really hoping to do my install this weekend. I have searched another hour this morning and CANNOT find a straight answer as to what the correct colors are for the wires to tap the LOC into to ultimately send a signal to my amp. Again, in my Coupe I tapped into the blue, pink, teal, and purple wires, but apparently it is different in the Sedan.

Please help!

Thanks!

Here is what you need:
The box to the right of the factory sub is for the Bluetooth, if you have sat there will be another box on top of that one.

For the LOC the rear channel from the wiring diagram is
LR+ BR (pin 26), LR- Y (pin 25), RR+ L?(pin 24) RR- P (pin 23)
To tell which pins are 23-26 pull the big black connector from the bose amp, there will be 4 empty spaces at the start of one row, and 2 on the other. The row with 2 empty spaces is pin 21 (empty) pin 22 (empty) then pins 23-26 are the rear channels.
