Re: Sedan Horsepower

"I'm not sure which part it is.. I'm basing my claim off Infiniti's Specs page for the Sedan and Coupe.

Sedan Intake: High-flow induction system
Coupe Intake: High-flow tuned induction system with micropolished tract and ports."

I'm not saying this is what happened, but it is extremely easy to use the very same part for two different cars while writing a fancier, more detailed description for the one you are charging more for. You see it all the time in marketing. ; )

Re: Sedan Horsepower

I'm sure that's a possibility. In which case, I'd have to say to Infiniti: B@$7@RDS!

As far as exhaust goes, I'd like to see a system that uses two of the stock sedan mufflers, one on each side, similar the '04 Maxima. Go dual, but keep the variable capacity.

Anyone know if the Coupe's ECU would work in the Sedan?

Re: Sedan Horsepower

I think the only real way to find out the facts is to dyno a completely stock Sedan to an Identically stock Coupe. 6MT Sedan vs. 6MT Coupe and 5AT Sedan vs. 5AT Coupe. That would be the only way to find the true difference. If there is a difference then we'd just have to play with the different theories (electric fan, polished intake, exhaust...) to make up the difference. The only real noticable difference that i can recognize is the handling. When I drove the Coupe it seemed to be much stiffer and more balanced around corners than my Sedan.

P.S.
For those who care. I drive a Silver Sedan 6MT CA license plate "KRZ HAYN" = "Krazy Hawaiian". A "Shaka" is always welcome.

Re: Sedan Horsepower

Well, the coupe does have a stiffer suspension than even the sport-tuned sedan.

Re: Sedan Horsepower

Are there any sedan and coupe owners that would be willing to get together and do a group dyno in the same settings as suggested before?

I can come in for the dyno. I have a 6MT sedan and live in the Bay Area, CA.

Re: Sedan Horsepower

Same suspension as sport in the coupe, different wheels and or tires, this has come up on FA a few times before. Manifold assemblies are the same. Spend some time on the phone or in the shop with parts and service managers at Nissan/Infiniti and you can get them to look this up instead of guessing- really isn't that hard..

Re: Sedan Horsepower

This thread is hilarious....but kind of useful in a way...going back and forth as to what is faster, blah , blah blah...

Look head to head: base ,leather and 6MT , models

The dog-on Coupe is faster than the Sedan...period!!
0-60 MPH there is not a big difference and also the 1/4 mile there is also minimal difference.....But its that 0-100 and high speed stuff that separate the two....

0-100 the coupe has at least a second on the sedan time
and handles better skidpad numbers are higher and so is the slalom.

P.S. And it looks better.............LOL.....nah maybe thats just my opinion...lol

But it sure does sound meaner!!!

Lexus for my luxury and Infiniti G35 Coupe for my speed. I must say...Life is not always a B!TCH

Re: Sedan Horsepower

The skidpad and slalom probably have more do do with the Coupe's Michelin Pilot Sports v. the Sedan's Goodyear Eagle GS-D's.

Re: Sedan Horsepower

NYCG35, I think you're comparing 5AT sedan to 6MT coupe. AT to AT and MT to MT, there is proving to be little difference among the cars. Funny thing is there's no figures around for 5AT coupe.

Re: Sedan Horsepower

edmunds.com did a review of a 5at coup. i belive their 0-60 was 6.2 seconds. when they tested their 5at sedan they got 6.1 seconds.

Re: Sedan Horsepower

Didn't the coupe do better than the 350Z on the skiddpad and the G35 sedan come close to it on the skiddpad?
