Well, the coupe does have a stiffer suspension than even the sport-tuned sedan.

Not true. Spring rates are close enough to be no different and the valving in the same. The real difference is that the coupe is sittling lower via shorter springs, 7/8" lower in the front and 1 1/8" lower in the rear and the strut bodies as also slighlty shorter. . Any difference is from the lowered center of gravity and any possible difference in the car's "center" of gravity. And they ALL use the same exact sway bars, sized all the same, all sedan's, all coupe's and all Z's. The one large difference in the suspension belongs to the Z where it's sturts are factually valved allot stiffer, but that's the reason a ton of Z owner's complain about the ride and NO coupe owner does. Of course it goes without saying that the non sport sedan is softest of them all, that's where the real difference is.

"0-100 the coupe has at least a second on the sedan time"
You may possibly be right, but where are you getting that idea? Can you quote any times from same magazine - A/T vs A/T or 6spd vs 6spd? Also, I gotta say 1 sec. faster to 100 mph is a pretty minimal difference to me. Again could be driver or timekeeping difference.

Re: Sedan Horsepower
G4me,
"My sedan does not have a mechanical fan. Go figure."
We know the AT Seadn's radiator fan configuration was changed to match all the other G's and 350Z's sometime in 2003... probably for the 2004 or 2004.5 model year. I looked at a 10/03 AT Sedan yesterday and it had electrical fans. An 8/03 build date car I saw had the mechanical fan.
What's the build date on your AT Sedan? It can be found on a sticker at the bottom of the driver's side "B" pillar.
Sure wish I had waited. A Gurgen says, our Beta Testers (2003 doggie door AT Sedans) are sure a pain in some respects.

Re: Sedan Horsepower
Mag racers. Its pointless.
As far as performance AT vs. AT and MT vs. MT is minimal difference if any. Why? Look at what people post and not magazines. By looking closely you would discover the performance numbers (1/4 mile) are the same or almost the same. Do you people really think 40-50lbs in sedan favor makes up the power loss to a coupe 20hp difference. Hell no!
Look at 2005 specs for sedan it showed 277hp/270tq instead of 260/260 (as for 2003-2004). Its already pushing those numbers in 6MT and to me it sounds as marketing update for Infiniti and perferct catch for a new consumer.

Re: Sedan Horsepower
I just picked up my new G35x Sedan over the weekend. I was trying to shake some info about the 2005 power increase (17hp - 10# torque). They did not have anything on it yet but they said to check back in a few months, they should know then.
I am no pro, but of course I would like to have the extra power. Although I'm not sure if I could even feel the extra hp and torque.

Re: Sedan Horsepower
There were a few NA 350z's and coupes at Stillen's 350z/G35 day that didn't post numbers like my sedan did.
Some of them only had exhaust and CAI. Some had ECUs and and full exhausts. Combos differed. Cars differ.
yes, it has taken a quite a bit to get my car to the point where I am putting the hurt on NA coupes.
The look on ANY coupe (nissan, BMW, Toyota, Honda/Acura etc) driver's face when they get spanked by my sedan... PRICELESS.
I really like coupes... I think that many have great lines. I hold no grief/animosity toward them. However, my personal preference is the 4-door.....always have, always will. I don't mod my sedan to "make up" for not buying a coupe. My sedan gets modded because thats what I do with my cars, and my cars all have four doors.
I only put the hurt on to advise the kiddies to respect and appreciate. Not unlike a wolf that bites a pack mate, just to remind them of the pecking order.
I may get a 2 seater a little later in life, but it will probably be something like a 34 Ford roadster.
to each their own... peace!

Re: Sedan Horsepower
Amen SoCal - nothing really makes me happier than being able to get a sedan with almost all of the performance of the coupe - same underpinnings and motor and most of the frame with a totally different body style and overall style.
And when i get a 2 seater it will be 20 years out and be a shelby cobra (new v10 maybe) or a 911. Those are true sports-coupes with no sedan counterparts. Mid engine sedan anyone?
Sedans in this class can do anything the coupes can do....and after we pass the kids can wave goodbye from the back window! (no kids quite yet but soon).

Re: Sedan Horsepower
Motor Trends 2003 testing showed the 6MT Sedan turning the 1/4 mile in 14.3 seconds at 100 MPH, while the 5AT took 14.7 seconds @ 97 MPH. The Coupe 5AT took 14.2 seconds, with a trap speed of 99 MPH.
So, at least in these tests, the 6MT sedan BEATS the 5AT coupe to 100 MPH, and the 5AT Sedan takes about 1/2 second longer than the 5AT coupe. I'd bet the difference between the 6MT sedan and 6MT coupe are also about 1/2 second to 100 MPH - but who cares?
