Real Aluminum trim

Is it possible to get real aluminum trim installed instead of a the scam they call aluminum? Where can I find some and how much?

And here is where they explain why they are so great.

http://www.autoaccessorystore.com/alumdash.htm

I am going to order a sample from them and check out the quality before ordering.

Re: Real Aluminum trim

I'm curious how it would look. Seems like it would look pretty nice. They really need some images on the G!

Re: Real Aluminum trim

IMO, the main problem with the dash kits is they just fit on the flat surfaces.
For example, on the console, they don't wrap arround to the edges.
I would still like to see them in person though, the ones in these links might look pretty good since they are so thin.

Ditto for me, I sure would like to get something like this that they have at JapanParts.com, but this is for a RHD, plus no seat heater switches and it has the X switch too I believe. I think this would fit either RH or LH drive, but I don't have an X and I have heated seats, damn! I wonder how hard it is to remove the console cover?

Re: Real Aluminum trim

it is easy to remove the center console. Take a look at this DIY for the double din conversion from
docron1 a.k.a. joepaniolo
http://www.g-owners.com/article_read.asp?id=33
About half way down he explains how to remove the center console.

This is false. Every kit I have seen for the G35 ALWAYS wraps around the edge on the console.

I ordered the real aluminum kit for $81. I'll let you guys know how it looks when it arrives. I figured it is no big loss if it is not up to par with my expectations.

Re: Real Aluminum trim

Okay, where did you get the trim that wrapped around the console, I haven't seen that, every site I checked didn't include the G35 in the "molded trim".

Re: Real Aluminum trim

I ordered it from the site above (autoaccessorystore.com)

What exactly do you mean by "molded" trim? I have NEVER seen a trim kit for the g35 that had a "flat" piece on the center console. Every single one I have ever seen always completely covers the console piece (like the images you posted above). I don't think I really understand what you are talking about.

Re: Real Aluminum trim

gdupg35, this is what I have found, see how it just sort of lays on top, the one I posted earlier, actually replaces the console, I think, from what it says at JapanParts website. Also, I had recieved a sample piece from this company, and it seemed fake, I could make a mark with my fingernail, can't do that with the factory stuff.

Re: Real Aluminum trim

I sure hope that is not what I'm getting. I forget if I specified that I didn't want any flat piece like that. I ordered my kit under the assumption that the console piece sold at the "Auto Accessory Store" would look like the example I found on their web site. (I ordered the real aluminum kit so maybe it is different) Here's a picture of their wood kit that "wraps around".
