I used 7-15k oil change intervals on synthetic 5k on regular. I spit shine my car every morning. do not use scented automotive air freshners. dont use additives and dont tamper under the hood. keep up with TSB and common problem areas and most importantly buy a reliable car.

Who's still posting to this thread? I have 171,500 miles. I got the car with 61K back in July 2007.

I think I'm burning oil like a beast. I generally go at least 4K between changes so as to keep from doing it every 30 days. (I drive a lot.) I changed it last night (3/31/2011) and only pulled friggin 3 quarts from the engine. I think there may be a leak, but I'm not sure. Last oil change (2/9/11), I saw oil under there but I wasn't sure if it wasn't splash from oil I wasted on the splash guard when I took off the filter the last time. I got a recommendation to check some gasket around the filter in another thread. Haven't felt like doing that.

I'm so afraid for what lies around the corner as far as problems with my car are concerned. And I don't finish paying for it until July next year!

That's a lot of oil for 4k miles... I had the o-ring behind the oil cooler fail on my car and it was bleeding oil like a stuck pig; it left a nice puddle everywhere I went. Are you seeing oil spots where you park at all? I'd also be tempted to pull the plugs and see if they covered in oil; could be the spark plug well seals that have failed too... I'm at 182k so far on mine and I go 5k between oil changes with no major consumption (I'll usually lose 1/2 a quart in that time). And I abuse the car daily still too

Nah man that's what is buggin me. I never see oil puddles. Not even a drop. My driveway is just about as clean as it always has been. I had been leaving cardboard under the car at work to see if anything fell onto it and there is never anything. I was wondering if maybe the oil is only leaking substantially when I'm driving and so I never see anything under the car when I park. I was wondering if maybe it was all being caught by the splash guard. But surely, it would build up and start leaking on the ground at some point. I try not to abuse this car. I would like to get through paying for it before I abuse it to the point that it's costing me money in repairs regularly. I think I just shouldn't have gotten a car with so many miles. Even though I got it for what edmunds and NADA said it was worth at the time. I hope the car stays with me for at least two more years cause I think I should buy a new car next time and there's no way I'm shelling out the cash for a brand new G. It probably be a Cruze or something. I get depressed just thinking about it.

^Just leave the shroud off after your next oil change and see if it leaks onto the cardboard.

Wow, that's alot of miles in 4 years. You must live pretty far from work.

Where do you live? I would move to a thicker oil 10w/40
