Well I got the car back, and it definitely brakes a lot better than before, very firm.

How much does it cost for new pads front and rear and 4 rotors to be resurfaced? I have almost 31k and I think my brakes are starting to go. I am hesitating whether or not I should go to infiniti or my mechanic.

Quite possible to need rotors (and pads) at that mileage.

Depends on driving habits amngst other things.......btw. check the torque on the lugnuts when you get her home. Overtightening and uneven torque will contribute to warped rotors. They should be about 80lbs.

I'd say you did well on your brake deal.

I suspect that most of the differences are how the car is driven.

I just had my car in for an oil change today (04AT), and asked them to check the brakes since I'm just about to go over the 3 year mark (I have 30600 miles).

I didn't ask the Nissan dealership for a measurement, but they told me I was fine in the brake department. I just wanted someone independent from an Infiniti dealership looking at it (especially since I just had it in 6 weeks ago for the 30K service) before the warranty expired.

My previous car, a boring sedan, made it 85K on rear brakes and 102k on front brakes before I had to replace drums and pads.

I am noticing a big difference in the way my car brakes now, like it's a different car. Plus the squeaks from the brakes are now gone. I have to say I'm very happy with the service I received, esp. because they put the rotors under warranty service.

No..you need to take them off. BTW - your rears will always outlast your fronts due to weight distribution & mechanics of slowing down.

When I took my '04 g35x in around 28k, they said the front pair of brakes has 1mm left and the read had 3mm and thought it was weird so they gave me a new set free since I still have a warrenty. I wonder if there's something up.

Wonk, if they in fact replaced your rotors and pads for $170, I wouldn't feel ripped off at all. If you look at most manufacturers warranties, rotors and pads are excluded from warranty. For $170, if they last another 20-25K, I say you did good.

Is this a problem specific to the G Sedan? or is the Coupe affected as well?

I think the 05 G35X's have the old style rotors which warp very easily but they break (grab) quicker...

Had rotors resurfaced at 23k under warranty and bought a set of 4 OEM pads here on the forum for $50 and installed for $30 more.

For some unkown reason, Infiniti didn't change the brakes on the '05 X like they did on the RWD, so you still have the same brakes as the fast wearing '03-'04 they did change them for '06, I don't get why they did that the way they did. These brakes are so much better, and clean!
