I'm afraid to ask this question but here goes. I brought my G35x to the dealer today for an oil change.............20k on the odometer............I just got a call saying that the car needed new front brake pads and new rotors.........$580............but after hesitating they said they would pay for the rotors so my final price would be $170.............................................

I'm afraid I was just taken, but I am not a car mechanic so it's not like I would do the brake pad replacement myself. So was I just taken for a ride? If so, my next car will be a bicycle to avoid maintenance like this!

Chack the threads.

I have the same model. The brakes suck & are very dirty in the front.

make sure they actually replaced the rotors instead of just resurfacing them...

some people w/ hard driving have their rotors and pads go even after 8k miles.

OK, I guess I'm ok then. I tried searching on this forum (always do) but couldn't find anything directly like my question. Gone are the days when I had my '98 Maxima and would hear the brakes crunching and grinding before I got them replaced...

I also have an 05x, I just had the front rotors replaced at 17,800 miles. You're not alone.

Hey guys, my '05 X has 35K miles. I replaced the pads at 20K miles because I wanted less dust. They still had about 50% life. I put on PBR Axxis Metal Master pads. At 35K, I'm still on the original rotors. No Squeal and very little brakje dust. Maybe I drive like a pu$$y!

ask for the old parts back. That way you can see for yourself if they needed replacing or not.

I have 05x, about 13k miles, still plenty of rear brake pads. Is there any other way of seeing the front pads without having to take the wheels off?

I have 22,000 miles and it needs new tires and brakes and rotor resurfacing on my '05 G35x.

My g35x has had really squeaky brakes since I hit the 4,000 mile mark. I have about 13,000 miles right now and last week the dealer replaced my front rotors and pads for free. That was the 5th time I brought it to him. That solved the problem. So yes, these brakes are crap

My pads were down to 3/32nds with only 14k miles, failing inspection is 2/32nds

You better not!

Brakes are like gas, tires, etc. Enjoy them!
