Need a push - Buy G35X or BMW!

Need a push and would love to hear the G35 perspective on this..

I have an interesting choice to make in the next few days re a lease on a 2006 model. For the SAME monthly payment and SAME down payment, do I drive away in a new Black/Beige 330xi with nav/premium/++ (Canadian MSRP=62k) , or a comparably equipped new G35X (Canadian MSRP=$50k) !!!

While this of course should be a no-brainer (same price means go for BMW), if I buy back the car, which I intend to do (I'm tired of leasing want to keep the car for a while this time - and only give it back if it sucks), then the G35X, after taxes etc, is a whopping $13k less (as the MSRP and residual rates are so much lower) ..and as well, its another $3k less due on delivery.

I've never owned Infiniti or BMW before ; and I am more the luxury sedan guy than the sports car type. I am not over the hill, but I am over 50, so I value things like integrity, quality, convenience, luxury and value.

I certainly admire the class, tradition and engineering behind BMW, have a wide choice for nice dealerships that I feel confident dealing with, etc, and the car is great...whereas the Infiniti dealerships currently suck, I feel nothing when I hear the work ' Nissan', and any extra power the car may have it not relevant for me……BUT man, the G35 is a damn nice car, and its $16k less (!!!) as a package, plus the family loves it a lot more, and it’s a better size...and likely easier to keep clean (assuming it a sliver/black model), and the leather is really nice too!!. Am I insane to go for it when the 330 xi is in reach? The wife says 'get what you want' … if I only knew what that was!!

Thoughts? Perhaps I just love and appreciate BMW but its wasted on me, and I will instead be smiling more with the $13k in the bank. I wont exactly be suffering in a G35X

Thoughts?

I'd take the 13k and go w/ the G35x, however, if u don't plan on buying the car afterwards, BMW all the way...

I would say BMW if it had anything other than a tan interior

Ha, no but seriously it is a tough choice. Have you driven both cars yet? I was faced with the same dilemma before I picked up my G...but I decided to stick with my Nissan roots. Since I do all maintenance/repairs, its a lot easier to learn this G than messing around with the Bavarian engineering.

That said, I'd probably go for the BMW since it was recently revamped. I'd say wait for the '07 G and make a choice then, but I don't think that's an option for you.

Good luck with whatever you choose and be sure to post pics when you make a decision!

Interesting question on a G35 site. Here's my perspective. Infiniti is a larger car so for the family it's probably better, long term reliability should be better on the G but that is always a big question mark. If you are not going to buy, then go BMW. If you are pretty sure you will purchase after the lease, then pocket the $13K and enjoy a wonderful automobile like the G.

Based on what you described in your post, I would tell you to get the BMW. My wife has a 330 and she would not trade for my G and I certainly would not trade for her BMW.

It all comes down to what YOU like the best. With that being said, you did mention that with the G you get more power and more room for a better price.

IMHO only the RWD BMW are noted for their lengendary "feel". Whatever that means. So when you faced with the AWD versions, I'd tend toward the G.

I think you have it reversed. The 3 series is a true sports sedan while my G is soft luxury car.

hmm.. comparing the G to my brother in law 06 330 i would say that the BMW its far more luxurious than the G while the G feels more sporty, but thats just me...
