Dealer problems

Hey guys. Let's say you bring your car in for service and when you pick it up, you find dents or scratches. Will the dealer take care of it? Or will they tell you it was there before it was brought in? I dropped off my car this morning, probably picking it up on monday, but was wondering about your experiences. I heard of people finding damage on their car, but dealers denying they did it.

Thanks

Re: Dealer problems

If they say it was there when I brought it in, and I KNOW FOR SURE it was perfect when I brought it in, then my response is, I know it was not there when I brought it in, how do you know it was? Do you have proof or documentation? Some shops will document all your dings and scratches at check in for this very reason. If they try to jerk you around, take em to small claims court, as long as you know for sure you are right.

Re: Dealer problems

The Service Advisor actually inspected my car before I left it
with them last week. She indicated on G35 Sedan diagram
where a paint chip was located, so that I would not claim
they put it there. I actually had to tell her of another scratch
that was on the G (I'm too honest!). That is the way a good
dealership should be.

Re: Dealer problems

I noticed a set of light scratches on the right front corner (on the bumper), like the car brushed a pole. I know I never hit anything in it, but I didn't see the scratches until about 3 or 4 days after I took it back from the dealer... too late to complain, really, and they buffed out easily enough.

If you're paranoid, make sure to do that walkaround on the car with the service advisor before leaving it with them. I'm past the point where I care about tiny nicks and scratches now.

Say it ain't so, say it ain't so. I said that a couple of years ago with my Max and now the bumpers look like $h*T. I want my new baby to stay new as long as possible (however possible in NY).

No, not yet (weeping), I still haven't even gotten an ETA, order number or Vin#. Hopefully it won't be much longer.
