e-brake turn

anyone try an ebrake turn in the G sedan 5AT? I don't know if it would be possible, because its pedal, but the release is if you push it all the way down, so maybe if you slammed the pedal down?

Re: e-brake turn

What is an ebrake turn? Do you mean slamming on the
ebrake while turning the steering wheel al la Starsky & Hutch?
HaHa. Why would you want to do that?

Re: e-brake turn

E-brake = hand-brake right?

Why would someone call it E-brake. (Emergency?)

Re: e-brake turn

Since the G is RWD, why in the world would you apply the e-brake, hand-brake, whatever you want to call it to slide? Or is this so you can do a 180?

Re: e-brake turn

Some vehicles, not most, have auto-release foot brakes when in Drive. I had an '83 Crown Vic that auto-released. Currently, we have an '01 Expedition, and it does not auto release. (Wouldn't care to try an ebrake turn in it anyway!)

Haven't experimented with the G. Haven't thought to try yet. Probably will now.

Re: e-brake turn

I would call it the hand brake if it was a hand brake for the 5AT, but its only in the 6 speed that you get the hand brake. Its a pedal in the 5AT so its whatever you want to call it, but i just refer to it as an ebrake. The reasons for applying it would be purely for things like 180s and such, but mainly for closed area driving as control is about nill when its done at any significant speed.

Re: e-brake turn

What a joke! No way can I lock my 6mt sedan rear wheels by yanking up the emergency brake handle. It appears to be one of the most under engineered systems on the car, mine is barely effective. It won't even hold the car on a moderate hill by itself. Once, I found myself fumbling for the key fob to unlock the door as it began rolling back towards the car behind. Thankfully, there was a space between us. I ALWAYS leave it in gear just to be safe now.

Re: e-brake turn

Oh my, I have been hearing a lot about the weak parking brake these days. Luckily I have made it a habit to put the car into gear before leaving.
