so tonight i was out and after my car had been sitting for about half an hour after some mildly spirited driving, i got in, started it, put it in reverse and felt the car shudder like it was going to stall out...

i just gave it some gas, backed out and started driving to see if it continued. it didn't.

i just had an oil change today and had my rear section replaced with the hks... should i be worried? i know tomorrow morning first thing i'm going to check the oil since it will have had a chance to sit all night....

also, how much clearance do those of you with HKS have between the tips and your rear bumper? can you please post pics??? mine seems really really close.... like a 1 finger gap after driving, the bumper was warm to the touch right above the exhaust

here's a link to G35Papa's pics:

https://g35driver.com/forums/showpos...&postcount=428

i'm not sure if i need to worry about this... seems like the heat over time will be bad for the bumper/paint...?

I don't think the bumpers are any different between the '05s and '06s (I could be wrong). I did play around with the rubber hangars when I installed mine to make sure it lined up exactly the way I wanted it to.

Maybe you just need to do a bit of adjusting. If yours is closer I can understand your concern.

how did you play with the hangars? since the bracket is bolted on and the hangars are basically just attached, i'm wondering how much play is in there... is there a way to change the angle of the exhaust to point downward a bit? if that how yours looks from the side?

'05 - '06 bumpers are identical. I have a tight finger gap and that's nothing to worry about. But if you're not comfortable, you can have your shop adjust the height.

you're not concerned about the heat warping your bumper? i'm not sure how hot it *can* get, but it was definitely warm to the touch yesterday...

it is warm but not hot. the small heat shield helps protect it. I've had it over a year and it still looks brand new. I was more concerned about smoking my bumper since it is silver, but nothing has happened.

You are right, there is not much play but with everything loose I was able to gently persuade the muffler with a rubber mallet into perfect position. When I first put it one, the rubber hangers looked more or less like this \ and after adjustment I got them more or less like this l. I might have also slightly bent the hangars toward the ground I don't remember for sure.

Here is mine from the side:
