Vehicle Alarm

Still getting used to my G, according to the owners manual, if the anti theft is armed with the keyfob, the alarm will sound if a door is opened by any other method, however, I tried mine by leaving the window down and arming it, then reached inside and unlocked and opened the door without using the keyfob, but nothing happened, is there any other way of testing this to see if it's working, LOL, short of breaking the window.

Re: Vehicle Alarm

I did that the other day: locked the G with the windows part
way down. Needed something from the center consul,
so I reached in and unlocked the drivers door and opened it.
The alarm went off. Had to run into the house and get the
keyfob to turn it off. If yours dosn't do that, time for the dealer!

Re: Vehicle Alarm

Thanks, that's what I thought, the safety reverse on the windows also doesn't seem to work right!

Re: Vehicle Alarm

The safety reverse doesn't kick in until the window is almost closed. It's probably not the best one out there.

Re: Vehicle Alarm

I have a sedan and when I roll up the rear window from fully open and my daughter has her hand on the open part, the window stops with less than 2 inches exposed.

I believe the auto reverse function is always on, how could infiniti say that 2 inches is enough to save a neck. Well you know what I mean.

The other item is the alarm does not arm unless the key or remote is used to lock the doors or if the remote is used to unlock and the doors are not opened. In this case the doors lock and alarm is armed.

Have a healthy day!

Re: Vehicle Alarm

That's what I did, arm the alarm with the remote with the window open, then reached inside and unlocked and opened the door using the manual lock and the handle, still nothing, I am running it by the dealer today!

Re: Vehicle Alarm

as a quick check

when you open the drivers door, do the interior lights come on? This will rule out the door switch. Had this problem once on my altima.

Good luck and make sure to post results

Have a healthy day!

Re: Vehicle Alarm

A) I may be wrong, but I believe it takes 30 seconds to arm with a window open. Lock the car with it open, wait a minute or two, and try again. Again, not 100% sure, but I think I read it somewhere...

B) If your auto-reverse doesn't work, call your dealership. I doubt there's a heck of a lot they can do, but I test mine on day 1 with a roll of paper towels. It scrunched the towels about 1/4in. then reversed quickly. That's enough to save a neck IMO... think of the alternative.

Re: Vehicle Alarm

Not sure on this, but I noticed that when I first lock my doors the the security indicator light stays on for a while before starting to blink...maybe there is some sort of delay???

Re: Vehicle Alarm

That's correct, it's a delay, LOL, I ran it by the dealer today, felt a bit dumb when it worked there, and yes, the steady light means it won't go off, glad it's working though! The "auto reverse" works as well, tried it with a piece of foam rubber, seems kind of weird that it wouldn't work before that point!

Re: Vehicle Alarm

Sorry for my delayed reply, but the blinking interior light was my answer also. I tried it myself one day and noticed the red led so I just waited till it blinked. Alarm works fine.

It's still a G thang!!

Re: Vehicle Alarm

Thanks everyone, I just came out of a Mustang GT Convertible, this car is soooo much nicer and has so many more bells and whistles, I've always been a Ford guy, had like 10, but don't know if I will ever again, well, maybe a pickup!
