So who has got the hook up on some good tires? The way I see it there is not way around 600-800 for stock 17's.
I like goodyear GSD3, Toyo, Nitto 555, etc. I like the stickier tires that work well in the rain, especially in Florida with the weather and the retarded drivers.

I have seen some great deals on ebay for tires. Just make sure they are from a store with good feedback.

There's a forum sponsor ( ke7tires ) that I bought my tires from. Pricing including shipping was a LOT cheaper then tirerack. I'd PM her also, to check on prices.

Rather than starting a new thread, may I divert for just a bit?

What tire pressure is everyone running?

On my stock EL42s I ran 30 per the car's label. Now that I put on new tires and the installer recommended 35 psi, I find a bit of wondering (on my part, re the wandering of the car). Not been on much freeway yet but there seems to be a bit of a pull to one side. Not real significant but am kinda picky about this aspect of driving... hate it when a car doesn't track straight.

Could it be the increased pressure? Tires are Yoko Avid V4S in 225/50/17, just a tad lower profile than a stock tire.

Definitely do a search online first. For America's Tire/Discount Tire and Wheelworks (here in Northern California), they match internet prices (including Tire Rack's prices) so you get the great internet prices, but also get customer service to boot. It's a winning situation.

Discount Tire usually sells their prices tires cheaper online - so they match it if you ask them to. No additional charges.

Wheelworks does charge $10-20 extra per tire to account for the normal shipping charges (so they can be more expensive than Discount), so its still the same as buying it online. The benefit is that either they have it in stock, saving you time, but the fact that you don't have to bring the tires to them is a major benefit.

From either place, you can also buy the Road Hazard insurance which is a must for our hi-performance tires. It just comes down to who is the most convenient.

Just got off TireRack.com looking for replacements for my 05 6mt sedan. Kuhmo ECSTA SPT were $116 for the 235/45/WR18 with road hazard for $55 and all four tires the quote was $519.+ $35 shipping and I recon $15 max for mounting per tire and it comes out pretty inexpensive compared to the $250 Bridgestone OEM replacement with much worse treadwear rating.

I have always bought from Tire Rack and they have local installers who can mount and cover warranty issues if needed. If anything the amount of information you can learn about all the tires helps you make a more informed decsision. Good Luck. I am going for the Kuhmo's.

i just got my replacements for my 03 sedan. i paid $545 for some yokohama YK520's. feels like my car is glued to the ground. really really good tire, quiet on the highway and best of all they come with a 60000 mile thread life warranty!! got em at discount tire. oh and i went a little wider than OEM size, cuz there were way more options available in the 225/55/17 size.

fulanoderock, what pressure do you like in this tire? I believe my Avid V4S is essentially the same tire although I have 225/50,
Thanks.
