how much are you paying for tires?

I need 2 new tires and i was quoted today at 2 different places a little over $200 and all the brands were special order. They even have the potenzas for over $300 a tire. I didnt realize tires could be that expensive for this car.

A little under $600 for 4 tires. Check Tirerack.com. They ROCK on prices and they are a fantastic place for research info.

stock 17s...i believe it is 215-55-17...

Im looking on tire rack right now and they are mid $100 for the better tires. That sounds more reasonable to me.

if you stay with the stock size you can get good tires, like cheryl said, for about $600

I've had excellent service from both Tire Rack and Discount Tire Direct.

Check out the Exclaim UHP ratings at tirerack.com.

You can buy from Discount Tire Direct and get them sent to a Discount Tire retail location if you have one near you. In my area, mounting/balancing and lifetime balance/rotate with this purchase were $11/tire. Very good IMHO. The service was performed quickly and professionally, a WHOLE lot better than NTB or Sam's, the only others I have had experience with.

BTW, again In My Experience, I found DTD/DT to beat TireRack's service and pricing. Try a phone call.

I've been buying tires online and it ends up being cheaper by quite a bit.

tirerack.com and onlinetires.com have been good to me

How did you manage that, ...at gun point? I remember buying 275/45/17's at 160/tire, but you got similar size in 20's!

For my stock 17's in the '03 sedan, I paid around $730 for a set of Michelin Energy MXV4 S8 tires. I bought the tires from Discount Tire, and the package includes road hazard, lifetime workmanship warranty, mounting, lifetime balancing, and lifetime rotation. The car feels more planted to the ground, and road noise is very minimal. I love it

I paid $480 shipped for a set of Avon MS550 215/55R17s the Tirerack. They are light years better than the POS Turanzas that came on the car. The grip is outstanding plus the tire, even though it's the same size, is actually .8" wider which give the tires a much more squared off sidewall and a larger contact patch. I paid $13 a tire for mounting, balancing, new valve stems, and disposal of the old tires.

A good friend has worked for Discount Tire for ~8 years. I pay a little over cost since I have purchased ~10 sets of rims and countless tires from them.
