I'm looking for some advice regarding a couple of interior issues I need to address on my 2005 G35 6MT.
1. The soft material is peeling away from both my door panels and I need to re-attach it. What's the recommendation for an adhesive that will hold at interior temps?
2. Driver's side seat is torn a bit in the high-wear area. Anything I should do about this?
Regarding the leatherette on the door panels, I used "Permatex Heavy Duty Automotive Headliner Adhesive" when I did the backseat panels. It's a thick spray and a pain to do without getting the adhesive where it shouldn't be. You'll definitely need to do some masking. My rear panels were so bad though I pulled them completely off to spray.
For the seat, other than an auto interior specialist I'm not sure what to suggest. It affects pretty much all of the coupes. There was a TSB way back for shaving off some metal near that bolster to somewhat prevent that from happening, but I don't think it applied to the 2005 and later cars.
Im currently repairing the same thing on my coupe. Its the panel on the right rear though. The problem is that the leather dries out and shrinks so it starts peeling itself back. I tried heating it up to soften it and stretch it but it didnt help. So I just applied some super glue to the back of it and pulled it up as much as I can. Its not perfect, but at least its not hanging. Since its in the backseat I dont care about it too much. But maybe ill just replace the whole panel one day.
Oh and my seat is also torn in that same location. A lot more worse than yours. My car is an 05 and I dont think you can find a G35 without torn seats.

3M Super 77 Adhesive (or something similar sounding to that) is what I thought of first too, but it also comes out of an aerosol can and I'm thinking it's going to make a mess unless I remove the panel off the door. Originally I was under the impression that the door armrest plastic bits kept the material down by the edges but that's not the case. I'd rather try and glue it w/o taking it off. Maybe spraying the headliner adhesive on a popsicle stick and applying it to the material that way would work?

How long have you had the superglue on there and is it holding? I don't think regular superglue will last but I could be wrong. I do recall seeing a formulation of it to make it flexible... I think it may have been for weather trim (?) that might work better. I haven't tried it though.
Regarding the seat tear, yeah, I saw the other thread after posting this (doh!); didn't realize it was such a universal issue. My G35 barely has 50k miles on it. I don't really care about the looks as much as trying to keep it from getting worse. If there's a TSB on it, perhaps the dealer might help fix for a nominal fee? The seats in this car are a mess, from all matter of squeaking to leather tears, to it's massive weight. One of the low-points of this car IMO.
I just applied the super glue and then stretched the material over it as much as i could. I did a small section at a time so I could apply pressure to the glued areas for about 30 seconds for it to hold, or else it would pull back.
Like I said though, it doesnt look perfect, but at least its not hanging like it was before. I’ll post a pic tomorrow when I get home.

Interesting. My panels don't appear to have shrunk, just came unglued.

Thanks for your responses & suggestions!
You can try applying the adhesive to a stick and see if that works; you'll probably still need to do some masking though. You need to get the adhesive right up to the edge of the vinyl/leather in order to get it to stick into the groove, and it's easy to get the adhesive in areas you don't want it.
As for the TSB, your car probably has that fix already if you have an '05, but you check the VIN range it applies to just to be sure.
There's thread(s) in the forum from people that have used a piping product that presses into the groove around the outside of the panel where the fabric ends. I think it's available on Amazon. They glue then press in the piping.

Thanks for the reply. I did a search for "piping product" and didn't find the post you're referring to... can you help with a link?
