18X9 48ET with 275/35 possible on the rear ?

Rim gurus unite !
Okay, I have been looking at staggered set ups since I got the car. I've talked with several shops and have various opinions. After searching I see most with a similar set up are runnning 265/35. I would like to run 18x8 38ET w/ 245/40 up front and 18x9 48ET w/275/35 on the rear. Front should be good(many people have it), the rears are my concern(havent seen any on a sedan). I have two shops that say no problem and two that say rubbing will occur w/ 275/35 and I should go with 265/35 or 255/40, I would prefer the larger for tire availabilty and rim protection.

I may or may not drop so I'm on the more conservative side of the spectrum for now.

A buddy has 235/40/18 and 275/35/18 rubber w/ some aftermarket wheels on his M3 Coupe and I think it lookg great. The tire set up looks perfect.

Any thoughts ??????

Those are some pretty conservative offsets you're going with there. The front will be fine, but i'd definitely go with a more agressive offsets, say +33-35F, +40-45R

You will be fine. I have 20x10's +43 with 275/30's on my rear and a 1" drop. I did have to roll the fenders.

one thing you do need to make sure is, check to see if the wheel style clears your brakes!

You won't have any rubbing issues with that set-up. Whatever shops said you will rub (I'm assuming the fenders) with those offsets don't know what they're talking about.

Thanks for the replies.
I have another question about another set of wheels with the same tire set up 245/40,275/35. These rims are 18x8 40ET front,18x9 40ET rear.

On a side note I was changing brake pads on the wifes 04 Accord. I weighed the 16in factory alloys. They were only 38.5 lbs. Not super light, but lighter than i expected.

18x9 40ET will need some kind of drop and a little neg. camber, might need to roll your rear fenders.

18x8 40ET is fine.
