Searched for 2 days.. still need suspension help / opinions...

I want to lower my car, not for handling, but for good looks, with 20" wheels. Don't get me wrong, I want good handling, as a matter of fact, I want as close to stock ride as possible....

A local shop told me eibach springs, and that I WOULDN'T NEED camber kit OR NEW SHOCKS.... I HAVE STOCK NON SPORT SEDAN SUSPENSION.

what are your opinons for a good setup? I don't want slammed, just evened out and lowered to a nice clean look.

I want wheels / tires to be even or just barely inside the wheel well lip, which should give the car a meaner stance???

I am looking at 9.5" 10" rear / 8.5" front for rims,... and then I can play around with tires.

Like I said....I don't want the SLAMMED looked, just lowered and clean. Like a beamer 3 series (newer model) or a mercedes sport model.

Can you guys please help???

350Z springs... it'll lower the car 1" all the way around and the 20's will match up perefectly to the fenders, just like the 3 series.

If you get the 350z springs, make sure they are unrevised, which means 2004 and older. The revised are significantly stiffer.

The unrevised springs of a 350Z are closer to the non-sport suspension's spring rates, but will still be stiffer. You will need the shocks/struts from a sport-suspension package G35 sedan or coupe to avoid early wear and the bounciness reported with the 03-04.5 350Z shocks/struts.

If you check the tech forum here on brakes and suspension, you will see a sticky at the top explaining spring rates of a variety of suspension set-ups.

BTW, I never noticed any squeaks or rattles in my car until doing the sport-susp./ 350Z spring combo. It is not too bad, just something to consider as a trade-off for improved handling.

Eibach's devolopement car for sedan Pro-Kit springs had the non-sport suspension. Thing is, adding in a heavy a 20" tire and wheel combo may train wreck ride quality never the less. IMO, it would not cost much to find some used oem sedan sport shocks and run them vs your oem units. IMO, you should do a oem Z spring/Tokico D-spec shock combo.

Thanks for all the help guys! What a great board......

It looks like unrevised z springs w/ sport shocks is the way to go. What about z springs in the front, and coupe springs in the rear? I read it makes more of a level drop? Or will that wreck the bimer look?

Darnelled, RE: squeaks and rattles, i have read / heard about these, and was told specifically by Infiniti that they would not cover any of that if the car has been lowered.

How is ROAD NOISE with the low profile tires / stiffer ride? That is more important to me than having a rattle or squeak.

And, am I going to be OK without camber adjustment?

same drop, better configuration...it would also be easier in buying the springs and shocks together as a package...for me, the ride was pretty much stock...

^^ i have 20x8.5 with a 35mm offset and no rubbing whatsoever...a more ideal offset for the rim is +38mm ~ +42mm...but i like my rims sticking out the fenders a little bit...i have a loose two finger gap in the front and 1.5 finger gap in the rear...

Thanks, do you have any pictures? Is the difference in drop between front and back noticeable?

Thanks, that is perfect! Nice looking ride. There is a noticeable difference between the front and rear, but not that bad. I think it is the setup I will shoot for.

I do however, plan on going 9.5 -10 in the rear, and 8.5 in the front for a meaner look.

I went from 215-55-17 inch tires to 245-45-18 inchers on 18x8 rims and do notice more road noise, but I did some mods at the same time to cut noise so it sort of evened out overall. I added 2 layers of B-Quiet all over the trunk and under the rear seats and put plastic sheet covered home insulation in the spaces in the front wheel wells.

You are going for much wider tires and will likely have more road noise than I do. If you still want the 8.5- 10 inch wide rims, I would rec. looking at the reviews on www.tirerack.com and other sites regarding road noise for the tire you are interested in before buying.
