19 x 8.5 and 20 x 9.5 stagger

I currently have 19" x 8.5" with 38mm offset wheels at all four corners of my sedan. I had been toying with the thought of putting 20" x 9.5" on the rear. Does any one have this set up? What offsets would I need? I would like to get input on this from you guys. I also have the h-tech springs on the car. Will I have to roll the fender wells? I figure that I will. Give me your input please. Thanks

I wouldn't personally recommend it. In order to make it right you would need to put 245/40/19 in the front and 275/30/20 in the rear and that would look weird. The front tires would look fat and chunky and the rear woul look sporty and much thiner.

You can go 20x9.5 +45 with 275/30/20, no fender rolling even if you slam the car. Here is a pic of my rear with that same set up.

I've got 8.5's in the front with 245/35's and 10's in the rear with 275/30. It's true the rears are stretched and the fronts are more squared off but I don't think they look bad.

your set up is good but he wants to put 19x8.5 in the front which changes things.

Oh yeah, the overall size will need to be as close as possible to retain the VDC. Good call.

So just get new rear wheels at 19" x 9.5" and runn like a 275/35/19. I am looking for a good staggered set up. A little agressive would be fime with me.

What size front tires do you have now? 245/35?
Depending on what they are I would say a 275/30 would be great.

Here is some discouragement. I have 275/35/19 in rear and 245/35/19 front. The rears are BRAND new, so they are kinda fat, if I go into a turn and just turn the steering wheel (no braking, no throttle). The VDC hits so hard its dangerous, kind of loses control.

Your setup would drive the VDC nuts and have very unpredictable handling...definatley don't recommend it.

Wait a sec... You want 19's up front, and 20's in the rear? IMO, that would look horrible. The fender well for the rear is smaller than the front, sticking a larger diameter wheel in there would look totally out of place. Some cars could pull off a setup like that, but those cars have equal or larger rear wheel wells. Just stick to 19's or 20's all around, you can stagger without using different diameters.

Chico,
Can you post a rear shot so I can see how the rear wheel looks with the rear lines. The reason I ask is I just got new wheels yesterday and the rear is a 20x10 +40 instead of my +43. I have not had anyone drive the car yet so I can see the rear but I am not sure it fits how I wanted it to.

Yeah the rears need to be 275/30's not 35's. The ratio with the 35's in the rear makes them too large overall.

I'll look for some more later. I found this one. But you realize my set up is 20x9.5 +45 right? Yours is really agressive.

Thanks Chico, that one is good for me.

You are right those are more flush than mine. Since the wheel is a 10" my 275/30 is stretched a little more and the wheel sits out a little more.

I am going to take some pics tomorrow or this weekend and start a new thread.
