well i have my 05'x and i tell ya what, i love it, yes having a 6spd is way more fun, but if u live in a area with a lot of traffic, forget it, plus u have tiptronic, i always drive mine in the manual mode, unless theres traffic, then back in auto and no worries, and as for rattles, i don't have any, thank GOD

If your going to get an auto, you should definitely look at an 05 or 06. The Manumatic mode is so much better than on the 03-04. Plus like timmah said, Rear wheel drive is the way to go. Once you drive Rear wheel and four wheel drive you would never want to go back to front wheel drive, ever.

I have an '04 with only a few minor squeeks. The windows had a few minor squeeks because they fit so tight. An old fashioned bar of soap slid through the tracks seems to have fixed that.
I have from time to time a minor squeek in the left and right front end. Thanks to previous feedback from members on this site I'm pretty sure its the rubber bushings on the compression rods. I've only had the car a few months and my second service is coming up.So we'll get that taken care of then(still lots of warranty).

The car is very easy on the eye's and all in all I love it.

Obviously, the manumatic mode is a matter of taste. The one day I drove an 06 loaner wasn't enough to convince me

Though I mainly use it as a speed limiter in school zones.

Actually, when I went from rear wheel drive to front wheel drive, I thought it was a big improvement. Better snow handling, etc. But in retrospect, it was going from an old car that was falling apart to a more modern car, plus at the time normal cars didn't have so much HP that it overwhelmed FWD vehicles. As I have read, once you get over 200hp, you need the power to move to the back again.

I don't think having manumatic or not will really bother me; I would just want to drive it like a regular auto. I'm really looking for a '05 model because i want the matching painted skirts instead of the base black skirts.

I found myself in the same boat a few months back. TL or G35, I decided to go with the G35 b/c of engine, rwd and 6MT (top three).

As for the rattling... I have a 2006 6MT sedan and other than the road noise from the low profile tires, I don't have any rattles @ 2048 miles. During my break in period, I took my car through the twisties on a 700+ mile run chasing a group of my motorcycle buddies... I love my 6MT.

Couple things to think about...

if you are used to awd the front driver will have a more similar driving characteristic.

However the G is far more sporty and probably a lot more fun to drive.

I have no squeeks or rattles with about 30k on the clock for an 04.

Also if you like your manual tranny the power for the G works well for traffic. I live in the DC metro area and we have the second worst traffic to LA, and I drive a manual.

I can ride second gear down to like 2mph and pull off smoothly. The torque really makes the manual liveable in an urban environment! and when there is no traffic the manual is really fun.

also if you are into modding the G platform has a lot more potential to it!

I dont think you could go wrong with either one. but the g does have more space.

good luck

I wanted an 05+ because of the revised clock and the revised tail lights (Skylines are supposed to have round tail lights). I actually only test drove an 03, when I got the deal on the 06 all I did was talk numbers. First test drive was once I owned it and what a test dirve . Since I knew the 06 had 20 more horses I knew I'd be happy with the performance.

Sounds good. I think i'll be going with a auto '05 G35 sedan then. Those with the navigation system...do you think it was worth the extra bucks? And as far as mods...the only thing i have in mind is a different midpipe so it will be a bit louder. I love the sound of the g35 coupes.

Yeah it really bothers me that they gave that note to the coupe and the FX but not the sedan!! I have an aftermarket system, so I dont have first hand experience but I have heard a few say that they did not like their factory nav system. but the recessed screen is very cool!!
good luck with your purchase.

Sounds good. I'm thinking about waiting out on the purchase until the new 2007 models starts rolling out the showroom. Hopefully then a lot of '05 models will be popping up in the ads.
