A few questions on the G35 sedan.

Hey guys, I currently drive a '05 Subaru STi and i'm selling it right now to either purchase a '05 G35 Sedan or a Acura TSX. I have a few concerns about the G35 that i would like to be cleared up though.

How bad are the rattles in the car? Where are the major rattles? And does anybody have any problems with the automatic transmission? I use to own a old Maxima and the auto tranny was horrible...it kept on going out.

Thanks!

I have a 6MT but have driven 5AT's a few times when the dealer is working on my car. I have not heard any complaints. As for the rattles, mine only rattles on the rear deck and that is because of my 12" sub and 1400W amp.

Between the two I would go for the G. The TSX does not have the power and is FWD. I have never enjoyed a FWD car as much as the G.

I have an auto with 25k miles on it; no problems so far. As for rattles; I only have them on very bumpy roads (I think the lack of rattles might be partly because I did not get a sunroof). I have the sport package (rims, lsd, springs, and shocks for less than a grand ).

I have an 03 sedan with about 80,000kms (50,000 miles) and no real rattles to speak of and the auto tranny is fantstic. I would have rather had the 6 speed but I got a deal I couldn't refuse.

The Acuras may have more of a known history with auto transmissions than the Infinitis. At least the TL. You might have to go to an Acura site for a more honest appraisal of their faults, which all cars have.

The ride is just too rough..and the day to day traffic is a pain with a stick in Houston. I'm currently making 420whp on a dynojet...but it will be converted back to stock this coming weekend and then sold.

I know that Honda/Acura's older 4 cylinder cars have a known issue on tha auto. But now that there is newer technology and more power...i have not really seen any issues on the auto trannies.

My friend had an 04 TSX. It's small and underepowered. Plus, let's not forget that the TSX has brake rotor problems. My friend sold hers at 53k miles, and it had its rotors replaced twice and resurfaced just as many times. I read up on a TSX website, and many people seem to have the same problems. Solution for most of them: go aftermarket.

My G rattles a little. The window one is the most annoying. Also, the thing I dislike the most about the G is the suspension squeak. I just had my 2nd set of compression rods replaced for this squeak, and I'm at 30k miles. Seems to be needed about every 15k miles.

Well the sti is fairly small but it's really no biggy. And i've driven a auto 2004 accord and the power was pretty decent. I don't really worry about power that much right now...I basically want a really comfortable ride that will not have problems popping up all the time.

Is this squeak high pitched, or low?

I've noticed a small clunking sound at slow speeds, not all the time, coming from somewhere behind me. Don't know if it is the seat, or further back.

Otherwise the only issue I've had is the outside temp sensor, and the TPM when driving a distance at highway speeds.

I used to have a Civic; my mechanic (non Honda) said if you resurface a Honda rotor it will be needed again within 15k. He said you just have to buy new ones (aftermarket).

I think there is a TSB for this.

Honda's trans sucks for reliability. My 97 Civic manual; 2 trans in 150k miles. Sister's CL type S is on second auto trans with less than 100k.

On the TLs/CLs yes the tranny problems are very prevalent, otherwise the tranny's last for more than 200k on typical hondas.
