It's funny with the "bang for the buck" section, you get so many more standard features with the G than you do with the Bimmer. For the base price on the Bimmer you don't even get leather seats!
Everything is a bloody add-on. Don't get me wrong, I love the car, it's just that you tack on another $8,000 in extras to bring it up to what other luxury cars have standard.

the 328 auto 0-60 is 6.9... yet it beats the G35 in performance. pfff

I can't imagine having a 328 after owning my G. I would take a 335 if I could but that is a whole new world and way more $$.

I owned a 1999, BMW 325i (it was really the 2.8 engine). It doesn't compare. You get leatherette with the base price. The BMW ride was stiff and not luxurious. Don't get me wrong, it was a FUN ride... but "bang for the buck", I got so much more from my 2006 G35 sedan. Not close. BTW, what happened to my 1999 BMW? The tranny went out at 88K. $7K to repair from the dealer, $5K from an independent. No thank you... German Engineering? This was my 4th German car. None, made it past 90K.
- Volkwagen Squareback 1972 (engine blown at 65K)
- Audi 1974 100LS (got rid of car at 75K - bad tranny, engine kept stalling)
- VW Rabbit Diesel Golf 1981 (engine blown at 80K)
- BMW 325i 1999 (88K tranny goes out)

I walked and traded that BMW in for a Nissan Murano, which later switched me over to Nissan Corp, which led to my G35. It's going to be awhile before a german car resides in my garage.
