With a 15% driveline loss, doesn't that mean the car is putting out about 280hp at the crank?

Re: 2004 6MT Sedan Dyno Info

congrats, those are great numbers.

being that the 6mt has an electric fan, my guess is
that everything else in the 6mt is the same as the coupe
so you actually have more than the stated 260hp rating...

looks like the 6mt is the hot one...
at least until december when the g35x is out...
thats cars for ya...

enjoy!

Couple of questions.

What is a "custom intake"?

It looks like you compressed the images height to fit into the boards pic demension rules, do you have a scan of the dyno uncompressed?

Finally, could you please post your torque graph?

Sedan 6mt dynos are always great to see, thanks for posting yours.

Until will see a G35x with 6mt with rear, center and front LSD's and at least the sport suspension, the 6mt will remain the sporting sedan mans chariot of choice.

Updates and answers to 2004 6MT Sedan Dyno:-)

I couldn't seem to get scans in lower than 100k, so I threw the images up on my web server. Here are the links:

Un-Cropped Dyno Run Images:

Custom Intake (intake that I made or put together most of the loose parts for, cost, about $75-100):

Grounding Kit (again home made):

I think that covers everything. Again, this was without an ECU reset since the initial install of the intake. So, if the ECU is reverting back to certain values, then the effect of the intake and grounding may not have been eveident in the dyno runs. But, who knows, and who cares. Hopefully these are just the begining, and any and all gains from these two small changes will seem laughable down the road:-)

Next question:-)

That's great to see those numbers. It's hard to say what an intake does on the dyno. There is no air rushing around it like it would on the road. Those are the same numbers that coupe owners get. I am happy with my choice of the 6mt

The G35x will most likely weigh more than the 6MT so, unless traction conditions are horrible, the 6MT will probably be quicker. That's of course all other thing being equal (same horsepower, suspension tuning, tires, and gearing).

It is very difficult to dyno gains from an intake change since it's nearly impossible to duplicate street conditions on a dyno with airflow.

Those are Terrific numbers, I would have to say that with the rear drive there is at least a 20% drivetrain loss, so It looks like you got your advertised H.P. from the intake and maybe 10 H.P. more from the ground installation for a total of 286.7 H.P. at the crank.

Just a minor comment...the numbers posted are with "standard corrections". Most commonly, people report SAE horsepower, which is about 4% less...most likely you'd putting down the high 220s SAE.
