6MT on order

I know how popular the G35 is getting, much to the dismay of some of you (and me). But I've been looking at the G35 sedan for almost a year now and thanks to all the great info supplied here, I held out for an '04. Just placed my order two hours ago for a DG 6MT. It was worth waiting for the last day of the month, I got the price I held out for. Now I have to wait the 3+ months, how will I survive! Thanks again for all the great info.

What price did you hold out for?

I bought my G35 about 2 months ago. I debated over waiting for the 2004 model mainly because of the limited-slip differential, tire pressure monitors, and the Diamond Graphite color. However, I wasn't sure I'd be able to get a 2004 for $500 over invoice like I knew I could a 2003 and Infiniti, at the time, was offering 2.9% financing for 60 months on 2003s.

Re: 6MT on order

Shads...buddy, I'm telling you it's not going to get any easier!!

I finally got my VIN# on an Oct. build and it is driving me nuts waiting for this car. My wife calls me "the stalker" because of the way I follow-up w/my dealer and check these boards...it's almost at intervention proportions. Good luck...

By the way, make sure your dealer gives you your order#, should be available at the time they actually place your order. As the cutoff is normally the first week of the month, your order may or may not have physically been place in the manufacturing pipeline yet. Might want to double check...

Re: 6MT on order

Fireball-
I waited for an 04 for the limited slip diff and the diamond graphite color. I know there are many silver cars out there but they are good at hiding dust and dirt and I like the darker look of the diamond graphite. With the amount of road work around here outside Boston, washing my car everyday was not an option. Luckily, my G should never see any New England snow. I'm keeping my 96 Chevy Z71 4x4 5-speed for crapy/snowy days. I know getting back in my truck after being in the G is going to be hell, but I would rather be in an 8 year-old truck in snow than my soon-to-be-precious G. Especially with the idiot drivers here in MA that don't know how to drive, let alone in the snow. I order a base 6MT, no options, for $28,500 total (car+dest.+dealer BS charge). I figure it was about $700 over cost. I had to order because I wanted a base 6MT and all the ones on dealer lots here around Boston were all loaded models. Being 6'4'', I did not want a moon roof and when I saw the "little" BOSE amp, I knew I could spend the $900 on something better. Also, it is nice that the 04 comes with the 03 "winter package" as standard (heated seats, etc). I wanted to save as much $ as I could so I can put $ into the G where I want, mods under the hood! I am already locked in at %4.49 with my bank but the dealer said they could beat it. I will get more dealer financing details closer to when my G arrives in Jan or Feb.

gman4gman-
I made the deal on Friday and the orders will go in at the end of next week, mine included. I definitely will get the order # and seeing that the dealer is across the street from my work, they are going to see A LOT of me waiting for info on my G. Your wife is calling you the stalker now but wait until the car arrives. She will want to drive it all the time.

Shads: It looks like you got it right at invoive+ destination, if the sales tax is 6%, I'm not to sure what the sales tax in Mass is, but great price anyway.

Re: 6MT on order

shads:

While I am enjoying my Garnet Fire G35, I do get annoyed with how easily swirl marks, dirt, and other things show. Silver was on the top of my list but the only car within a 150 mile radium of my house that had all the options I wanted was the car I ended up with.

When I saw a G35 coupe in Diamond Graphite, I immediately fell in love with the color. Silver, even a darker shade, hides dirt better than a highly-reflective color like a dark red, blue, or black. I had a Silverstone 2000 S2000 (almost grey) and a Platinum Grey 2003 Jetta GLX (even darker) so I'm partial to silver and charcoal grey/silver.
