VK45DD engine

Re: VK45DD engine
I'll give you that...A G45 may not be bad as a limited edition model...I don't see a tuner planting a VK45 in a Z at all though...Not necessary, terrible weight distribution issues, and the parts aren't available to extract the power you can get from modding a VQ35...

Re: VK45DD engine
Yeah, but the rumors of future Z models are all over the place...Supposed to be a 350Z R model, S Model, and Z Model (great name...350Z Z...d'oh!) coming out...R is supposed to be track ready, with S and Z being track-only...Then the V8 rumor, and the fact that TS has swapped a VQ into a GT-R and an RB into a Z...Even if they do it it's ridiculous- the parts simply aren't there for tuning, and neither is the bulletproof engineering of the VQ35DE motor...If the parts were there and readily available I'd have an M45 tuned by now...

Re: VK45DD engine
I really hope that does happen...A Nissan-designed and built V8 is just begging to be tapped...The VQ35DE is so reliable and has so much potential I have to think the VK45 and even VK56 are just as sick...I'm not expecting much from the 56 in the way of tuning, maybe a supercharger and exhaust, but the 45, being in the M (not so much the Q, as it's less sporty) really has the potential of being modded...Hopefully Nissan doesn't fabricate their own supercharger, if anyone does for the VK56- the Xterra's supercharger is a joke...One could argue that the few extra HP that set-up delivered were eaten up by the extra weight of the SE SC model's options...LOL

Re: VK45DD engine
Hey I saw the same picture you posted in a Japanese Auto Magzine today too in a Japanese bookstore near where I live. The picture they have in the mag is sure bigger than the one you posted here. Looks awesome. I am not sure if we read the same one. The mag was called "CAR blah, blah, blah(with a bunch of Japanese characters)". In the article, a picture of G, the same picture you have posted, was placed below a picture of the concept LEXUS GS for comparison. I think the tilte was about if this car is Nissan's answer to the upcoming GS. This four door version of GTR is tentatively said to be released in DEC., 2004 before the coupe version of GTR. Further, the article mentioned VK45DD and V6 TT setups are still under testing. Even though the editior sure loves to have the sweet V8 under the hood, V6 TT with various development stages seems to be the concensus among Nissan engineers. So I think there were still a lot of speculations in this article. I also noticed that their November issue was out too with another cover story about the Skyline GTR, but I didn't bother to read it because I know once again it was going to be more tempting speculations. But it's good to hear that Nissan is placing equal emphasis on both four door and two door Skyline models. So if this four door GTR will ever see the light into production, it would be a great news for people who have been longing for a GTR with extra set of doors and more headroom that the coupe version.

Re: VK45DD engine
It would be nice to see Nissan/Infiniti release another sedan GT-R...They didn't make them for very long before, but I'm all for it...It's always cool to see a variation of a beautiful ride...However, like you said, these articles are usually rather full of speculation...

Re: VK45DD engine
The VK56 isnt really suppose to be a performance engine. It a pure work horse engine in the Titan pick-up with a towing capacity around 9500lb and in the Armada a large off-road vehical. It would be sick to have that engine is a sports car but its heavy and desinged for an suv. The Xterra and Frontier sc maybe a joke and it is faster than the regular V6. But of course its not like the Ford Lighting but its not suppose to be. It a low power SC'ed truck. However the engine has potential. Get the more boost out the sc and a smaller pully then you got something there. What I would like to see is that engine in the Sentra SE-R Spec V or if the G20 was around in that car.
