Tire Pressure Sensor ON/OFF?

Hey everyone, does anyone know if the tire pressure sensor can be turned off if you install after market rims or winter rims?

I called a bunch of dealers and they said "No", they told me to put a black piece of tape on the the consol so I don't see the light, I was like wtf...

The dealer also told me if I drive in winter with stock rims, the salt may damage the sensors on the rims, and they cost around $130 CDN each.

Anyone with other than factory rims do you drive with the light on, doesn't it **** you off?

As far as I know, there is no on/off switch. You can still use them on aftermarket wheels, with a little creativity. Mounting 'em to the wheel on the inside, and using another valve stem to inflate.
Even if you don't use it. Worry not, after a while you won't notice it at all.

Sorry, they are right. There is no way to turn it off.

I checked ebay but didn't find any...

What? A valve stem is a valve stem, they all read the same pressure. Do you mean the TPS sensor? In that case you have to take the car back to the dealer and have them match the new TPS sensor to the car.

the sensors should fit aftermarket rims. it just srews on and off and you can bring the car to the dealer and they will recalibrate the sensors so the light goes off or you can also make sure when you switch the sensors to keep them on the same side meaning if it was on the left front rim make sure to put it on the new rim that is going on the left front, and they same thing for all tires

I have changed my wheels around a few times and they don't ever pay attention to what sensor goes on what wheel. The light just tells you one of your tires is low, not which one.

the light will come off if the tire is low or if it cant read a sensor , and also sometimes when you rotate the tire the light comes on because it takes a while for it to figure out where all the sensors are, aslong as you have the original sensors from the factory wheels on the new rims and if you have the right psi (summer should be 30psi, winter 33) the light shouldnt be on. the light can also be on if there is a bad sensor, if your car is still under warantee it should be free to replace
