Tinting my windows... Questions

I知 looking at tinting my 05 DG <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com<ST1Sedan</ST1</st1:City>. Since I知 super picky about my car and tint is something very very easy to mess up, I致e done quite a bit of research on the installers in my area. For those of you familiar with the Metro Atlanta installers, I知 looking to have Custom Sun Control do the job. They are notably the best installers in Metro Atlanta!<O</O
<O</O

I got a quote for $320, which is all window (minus windshield of course). I know this is probably somewhat higher than most places, but for the piece of mind in having it done RIGHT, would this be the way to go? How much higher is this quote from what you all have been paying?<O</O
<O</O

Also, please give me some advice on things to look out for in a good/bad install.<O</O

When the tint job is complete, make sure to check for any foreign debris caught between the glass and the tint. Also check to see that the tint goes all the way up to the edge of the glass (do this before they roll the window up). Personally, I'd avoid getting the front windows tinted unless you use a clear ceramic tint. I just got a tint ticket this morning and now I have to deal with it.

WTF $320 dollars for tint???? I sure hope its gold coated for that much money. Ya tint is easy to mess up but so easy/cheap to fix. Any decent installer should be able to do that for half the cost..... well unless its gold coated tint

I paid about $220 for 20% on my car from the best local place. They have done about 25 cars for me, friends and family. I think $320 is a bit high even for the best.

I paid 150 for all 5 windows... 320 is just about the most expensive tint job ive heard of. i love my tint, you really just need to find a shop that does it right for cheap, then again, i dont kno how tint prcing works in atl

bythebay, bay area cops are hagglers all they want is their quota, sorry to hear about the fix-it.. u can use mild soapy water and a razor blade to remove the tint, should come right off.

unfortunatly I paid about 320 for my sedan to get tinted... not happy about it. but whatever. It was done by the dealer and they gave me a lifetime warranty for for any problems beside me scratching it with a key or something like that.

i paid $200 for high performance film on my car including my windshield 20% all the windows. it does depend what type of film they use -- if you use dyed film it'll turn purple in about 2 years

make sure you ask what type of film they are using. if they are using Ceremic, than the 320 bucks is well worth it. metalic film should be half that price.

I've seen dealerships charge up to 750 bucks for ceremic film

I had Huper Optiks installed on my vehicle all 6 for 300 bucks
30% side and 40% windshield and rear window.

BTW
this was my $120 tint job with metalic film

what is the difference??
the $120 metalic job was hand cut. glue was spilled about the cabin, run rubber was sliced (shop replaced it) Reduction in radio reception as well as slow navi response. Dark black. Heat went right through it

the $300 Ceremic job was computer cut with near perfect fitment. The film did not cause any reduction in radio or navi reception. Had to go back once b/c of scratch in window - but shop replaced film no questions asked (and comped another service as well). looks perfect now.

film is very reflective - looks more like the sun is hitting it at a blinding angle instead of just black out tints (at night it looks like black/"Charcoal" tints)

Ceremic

Has anyone ever been pulled over for 20% tint? I have a 06 Black on Black 6mt sedan. Just got it tinted this weekend for $140 bucks - including the front and it looks awesome. It looks darker than it actually is because of the black interior. I am wondering if anyone ever got pulled over for a 20% tint?

I used to have an A4 black on beige with 10% all around and I never had a problem with that one. But lately I keep hearing about people getting pulled over....

Getting pulled over depends on where your located, how lucky you are.I had 35%for about 8 months and was pulled over by a CHP who made a u-turn just to stop me for tinted front windows.Had 35% on my TLS for 2.5 years and was never pulled over.
