19s in NY/NJ area...who has them?

looking to pick up rims for my 06x. my question is, you guys with 19s in the tri state area, have you had any problems? The roads are pretty terrible around here and im wondering if its worth it, especially city driving. I had them on my 03 acura and they were blowing out all the time, but you couldnt put much rubber underneath them because of the way the car was. Any thoughts?

ive heard of one sedan in brooklyn that has 20s, but id imagine he has a pretty harsh ride. i know of a few guys in li that have 19s. i don't know any sedan owners in the city that run 19s. i run 18s myself. 19s offer plenty of rubber. i wouldnt worry about blowing out your tires, you'll probably dent before anything else.

if you got 245/40/19 all around you should have enough sidewall.

Bingo..that's what I did. I live in MA & the roads here suck as well...no issues so far (knock on wood). Check you pressure regularly & you shouldn't have any issues...I wouldn't go w/ 20's though.

I have 20's on my X for 2 years now no problems and I drive everywhere. I would consider 19's just to put some more meat onto the tires but 20's look better in my opinion.

same here with crazy ed...got 19's w/245/40/19...i love how all my friends told me its gonna be a harsh ride, many problems, this and that, but none of them even have rims... it's all talk...i ve had em on for about half a year and to be honest with you i dont feel the difference btwn the 17's and 19's ...maybe a tiny bit more bumpy but nothing Drastic....if you were to get rims go for it man, just make sure u have a decent amount of sidewall in order to not bend those rims in nasty potholes

I've settled on 18's because of the wheel damage concern. In fact, I have a set of 18's for sale but I replaced those with another set of 18's! BTW, my car is an '05 X. No drop to keep the height advantage for the winter. After onw summer, no problems driving all over NJ, NYC and even into Montreal where the pot holes are horrid. I use the factory 17's and tires for the winter.

theres more than one in brooklyn on 20's, 2 that i know of and neither have a harsh ride. In fact i like the ride better on the 20's then on my stock 17's, but i enjoy a stiff suspension
