Lemon Law in effect??
K.....this is the third time the frigging CD player in the car has [censored] up, I'm about to go to the dealer and tear them a new [censored]...since its the third time something has gone wrong in the car, does the lemon law apply, or does it have to be something more mechanical like the engine or transmission?

Re: Lemon Law in effect??
most lemon laws only apply to problem that affects the driveability, safety or value of the car. I think it has to be a serious mechanical problem for them to repurchase your car, I don't think a CD player qualifies, you could write a letter to Infiniti motors and see if they resolve the problem, if not I would buy and aftermarket system as it is not worth the time or effort fighting them in civil court over this.
Re: Lemon Law in effect??
Any "nonconformity to express warranty" is the wording in the arizona statutes, so after several attempts (more than 4) if you can prove the defect caused a substantial drop in the usability or value of the automobile . Personally I would call up Infiniti and mention you are looking at the lemon law and they will probably have a fixed CD changer within two weeks for you that will not break again. it is amazing how far 30k will go in R and D of an existing electronic device. I haven't had a problem with mine and my car is a 2003 as well

I've had mine replaced 3 times for this issue, and they swear it's a brand new one each time, not a remanufactured one. I don't even get a loaner while they swap it out.

g35on20s, you have had three problems, or are all three the CD player? If you've had others, what were they?

Re: Lemon Law in effect??
Third time with the CD player, smae problem every time, pops up a cd error and it won't let me take out cds or anything. It's gone i twice becasue of the brakes....you guys know i get new brakes every 12k miles, thats bullshit, i had my lexus is300 for 60k miles and didnt change them once and the stopping power is superior to that of my g35. The dealer was telling me that those breaks are meant for racing..well damn, make better ones then cuz factory pads aren't cheap. The last time i replaced them i had to replace 3 brake rotors because they wore to thin and they were pretty much grinding metal on metal but they didn't give me that warning sqeak that all pads are supposed to. I also read in some mag, car and driver i think, that the most complaints on the sedans is the breaks and cd player, but the coupe gets no problems on that department.

Unfortunately the Lemon Law most likely won't cover the CD player...However, having those two words spill out of your mouth to the correct people may just get you the service that you need...It normally refers to safety features, powertrain, and drivetrain...A CD player doesn't help the car remain safe nor is it involved in driving the car- you can drive without the CD player/tape player/ radio playing...But using the words "Lemon" and "Law" can make enough decision-makers in a dealership cringe to get what you need...

Are the brakes different on the coupe, seems they would be the same! Plus, to me, if the wear warning didn't function, that should make the brake thing their responsibility! There <font color=red>has</font color=red> to be some documentation of the brake problem in Nissan's hands if it's this widespread, has to be, no brakes should wear out that fast, unless you do a lot of heavy braking, or brake coming down a mountain road a lot, geez!

Re: Lemon Law in effect??
I notice that the brake rotors on the IS300 seem a lot bigger than mine. The stopping distance on both cars are about the same but I have a feeling ours is attained through soft pad material where the IS300 gets the stopping power through more powerful brakes
Going in for my 7500 this week I wonder how far gone my brakes are by now?
I haven't had an CD issues (knock on wood) and I am exclusively running CD-R's

Re: Lemon Law in effect??
g35on20s: make sure that you don't put in rewritable CDs or scratched CDs as this will cause and error code on most players! I had a problem with mine in the 03 Accord, I finally had so many error codes that the CD player wouldn't eject, the dealer had to ship the the player to the factory so they could safely remove 6 of my prized CDs, it took about 8 weeks for me to get them back. I noticed the new unit doing the same thing with some of my other semi-scratched CDs, needless to say that I don't play the bad CDs anymore and I haven't had a problem with the player after that.
