Power drop on hard acceleration - 2006 5AT
Pardon if I get any terminology wrong--I'm not an expert in this stuff (more of a computer geek myself). Anyways, here's my issue: sometimes, on (somewhat) hard acceleration in manumatic mode, I get sudden power drops, primarily in 1st gear but sometimes in 2nd and 3rd as well. This is in my 2006 5AT Sedan Sport with about 5500 miles...
For example, yesterday, I needed to get around a Honda Accord (!) to exit the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, CA onto Malibu Canyon Road. From a dead stop, I accelerated rather briskly and of course was leaving the Accord behind, when at around 6000 RPM's the engine hesitated. Actually, I'd say it almost stalled, and then it suddenly started to rev again and then I shifted into 2nd. From there, everything was normal. Again, this has happened on other occasions, and in other gears, but always on relatively hard acceleration.
Probably not the best description, but there you have it. Any ideas?

When it began to stall, did the revs continuing going up but the car was not pulling anymore? As for the comment about the tack being off, they are and have been grossly off IMO. It seems Nissan used the same 3rd graders to calibrate the tachs in these cars as other VQ 3.0 and 3.5 applications. My 06 auto shows 7100 as the rev limiter but I know it is below that since I have not had any type of ecu flash. I am not also one of the types to believe that mine has a magicly higher rev limiter.
The reason I posed the question above was by the description it almost sounds like the tranmission is slipping. But if the revs stopped climbing then I doubt thats it.

Don't think it was the VDC, at least there was no reason for it to engage. This was on a straightaway on dry pavement, no reason for slippage.
I'm pretty sure that it's not "just" the transmission slipping, because as I recall the engine definitely bogs down. At least, I don't recall the engine _revving_ at that point.
I'm running 91 octane, highest I can get in Cali. And it's BP, so that should be fine.
Regarding the rev limiter, shouldn't that cause an upshift rather than cutting out the engine?
Looks like she'll have to go to the doctor. I'm a little embarassed--she almost got beat by an Accord!
