Purchasing '03 G35 Sedan

New member, first time posting:

I am going to go look at a G35 sedan this Wednesday and I'm pretty excited.

My question is that this car is a "California" car; I was wondering if there is anything I should look at, or pay special attention to? Do the California cars have less horsepower due to strict emissions? The car is a 2003 A/T. Are there any specific qualities/problems with the 2003 models? Finally, if I do get the car, I have a modding problem . I'll probably soon be wanting some extra power - is there anything you guys recommend or anyplace you can guide me to see what my options are?

Thanks guys,

Ryan

Yea, the search button lol

Can't help you with your Cali question, but as goes for modding, you can look at what stuff sites like (http://intensepower.com/infinitig35.html) and (http://www.mynismo.com/) and then search it here to see what people wrote. You'll see which products don't make any power and others that are helpful. In general, it's hard to squeeze any power out of these cars, unless you're gunna go FI.

Pretty sure all the G's are "50 state" cars

Mods depend on money, CAI and a plenum spacer are probably a good start.

That's what I figured.

Will a CAI make any difference? And what is a plenum spacer?

Ah, I'll try using the search.

Yes they are a 50 state car. The 49 state thing is more for bikes.
A CAI and spacer will help. The spacer is one of the best Hp/$ mods out there.

Spend your money on suspension parts. The benefit/cost ratio of engine mods don't make a lot of sense.

How easily does the 350z suspension fit on? Does it lower the car at all?

And I searched the spacer... I still don't know what it is...

350z suspension is a direct fit. Will lower your car by 1" and cause handling orgasm.

What's the blinker mod? Are you talking about the clear corners?

Yes, you can rewire your side marker/corner lights to blink when you're turning.

If you're into modding, why would you go for an AT? the 6mt is slightly faster and way more fun.

The brakes on the 2003 sedan are notorious for premature wear problems. At 60,000 miles I had already gone thru 3 sets of front rotors. Other than than, they are great cars!
