I recently went with Yoko Avid V4S in a 225/55/17 size from Discount Tire and am happy. Slightly smaller profile which worried me at first but really not any practical difference to speak of. Highly improved traction over stock tires (eh, but is that saying much?).

Consumer Reports recently ranked them highly (I bought them just before the issue came out, so nice to have validation).

I am also in Atlanta and have noted that they are supposedly not good in snow. For that 7 hours per year that Atlanta has snow on the ground, I figure I will just park the G.

Feel free to PM if you'd like more info.

I just ordered the Kumho Ecsta SPT's. I will let you know if I like them or not. The original tires are R rated and the Kumho's are ZR rated. They are $116 per tire at Tire Rack. If they are good that will be a good value.

tires

bought the yokohama avid v4s and they are an improvement over the RS-A's in wet handling and noise. The RS-A's actually were better in dry handling. I cornered hard alot and miss the added traction! Of course the mind numbing drone sucked, but alot of us want everything out of one tire!

you mean GSD3s. But yeah. Best tires in the world.

However, in the cold weather you don't want these tires. They don't perform well under 40 degrees F

They were Turanza's, but I'm not sure about EL33s... I believe they were EL42s... probably higher tread where - it's the non-sport so probably a harder tire.
