Speaker install
Speaker install
Typicaly I dont like to mod my daily driver. I have an old school mazda 626 I race so I have something to mod but this one thing was driving me nuts.
The stock drivers side speaker would distort at the drop of a hat. So I decided to do something about it.
I first off made 3/4 spacers out of MDF. I picked up a set of DUAL 6.5 x65i speakers. (I know what your thinking DUAL is some cheap stuff but for $18 it was worth the experiment. Sounded great at Bestbuy)
Anyway getting the door apart was very easy.
Only 3 screws holding it on.
1. Take the little plastic screw cover off the door handle and take out that scew.
2. There is a small indent on the underside of the trim on the door arm rest trim. (The silver part) Pop off the trim and take out the two screws from this.)
3. Under the door panel is a small indent that you can pull on to pop the door panel lose.
4. Once the panel is off unscrew the 3 screws on the door handel.
5. Unplug the conections on the door panel.
6. Unscrew speaker and install new speaker with mdf adapter.
7. Either solder or crime in wires to stock audio conector.
8. Put door panel back on and rock out to your new tunes.
Amazingly the DUAL speaker are 100 times better than the stock paper speakers. Well worth the effort. Now to replace the rear speakers.
Sorry no pics.
