2006 6MT Deal

Last week I test drove a Diamond Graphite/Stone 6 speed with Premium Package. It's never been titled, but had close to 600 mi on the odo.

They've allegedly had it on the lot for 3 mos.

Today, the sales guy calls me and offers 5K off, making it 30,500.

I noticed in Edmunds there's a factory to dealer incentive of 2500 for my region (Midwest).

To me, 5K off sticker on a 1 model year old car with 600 test drive miles is not that great of a deal.

Opinions? Any stealth marketers care to chime in?

terrible deal... especially with 600 miles on it. Get him down to maybe 26500 and then we'll talk. I got my 04 when the 05's were just out for 28500 fully loaded with 4 miles on it. tell that guy to eat it, especially with the 07 being completely redesigned

Yeah. That's not a good deal. Many members are reporting getting their 06 models for under $27k.

Thats a terrible deal! 600 miles should wipe out at least another $3000 from that price. 5K of msrp should be the price with < 100 miles.

Deals aside, I would be very cautious picking up a demo car with 600 miles. Just to reiterate what these cars are going through: I test drove a 5AT Sport today, and the avg. MPG was showing 3.5mpg

These cars are being a$$-raped by potential buyers. The first 1200 miles are the most important period of break in, as the engine should be babied. Instead these demos are abused day in and day out. I personally wouldn't touch it with a 10' pole no matter how good the deal was.

Cars that are used for demos and rentals should never be purchased.

Thanks for the inputs

Thanks, folks.

You confirmed my sanity. When I test drove it last week, I told the guy I wouldn't give it serious thought unless it was 10-12K off sticker. He pretended he didn't hear me at the time...

BTW, what does the "REV" constantly lit up in the middle of the dash mean? I drove two 2006 6MT's and both were showing it. Neither sales guy seemed to have a clue.

Basically you can set the light to come on at a certain RPM. I believe it's to remind you to shift. The reason you can put it to any RPM you want is so you can maximize your power output or if you want to shift at the same RPM everytime. Not sure how much I'd use it myself but it seems kinda cool.

That amazes me, but it sort of saddens me. How can they not know something like that? They are not true enthusiasts of the cars they sell! I guess that would seem normal at a Ford or Hyundai dealership, but I would just hope that Nissan would have a higher level of salespeople to go with their premium line. Especially on their best selling vehicle.

I understand that Nissan sells a lot of versas, sentras, and altimas, and most are not enthusiast oriented cars. But with Infiniti's current line, I feel that they are all enthusiasts cars to a degree. With possible exception of the QX56 and the Q45. They are not exactly "performance oriented". Even the lowly FX35, which has the job of "mid-size SUV", pulls off quite an impressive performance. I would drive the hell out of it!

Maybe we just take our car stuff too seriously.

I got my 06 DG MT base model with only a sunroof for 29,500 out the door and it only had 26 miles on it.

27k would be a reasonable deal

25k would be a good deal

anything 30k or above, FORGET IT-----if it is too high, just walk out, and I will GUARENTEE you that they will call back with a better price

hey guys, i'm starting to think i got raped when it came to buyin my car. i got it in august and its an 05 DG, 6mt, sunroof, sport package w/ no premium for 26,995 with 11k miles on it. they said they put that price on it so that it couldn't be negotiable. i also noticed a chip in the rear and soon after i got it home, noticed a scratch on the trunk. after taxes and reg. it came out to be 29***.

what do you guys think?
