It's AWD. How would RWD make it a better competitor? It's AWD system is considered one of the best in the world.

If it had 400HP at the same price point they wouldn't be able to make enough of them.

I like it a lot, but it is a little out of my price range.

My friend has about a two year old one. He needed an additional car in that vein so I suggested the M35. He got an M35x and vastly prefers it to the Acura. He is not a "car person", though and I have not driven this older Acura.

The new RL is the best car in its class at a great price. But its sad that it is forgotten.

It is failry quick. AWD, Lots of Techno Gadgets for 40k it is a steal. We now have a RL 2006 model and its been great. Best interior in its class, best AWD system, and one of the safest cars as well.

I should actually say we got ours new for 40,9k. Here are some pics...

I am not sure if you guys heard of Mike_TX on freshalloy.com and possibly here? He had a Infinit and Lexus and prefers the Acura RL over both his M35/M45 and IS350. Built better and much better quality interior. HE also says it drives much nicer than the M did.

I know they are sketchy, but every magazine seems to confirm that the M tops everything

Spot on. Test drove an RL w/o the the sales guy in the car so I pushed it. COMPLETELY uninspiring, even tepid performance. Comfort was excellent, sound system was great, no road noise. However, it DOES look like a tricked Accord and it has no soul. It's no surprise to me that Acura isn't moving many of them.

It's a Luxury car not a sports car.

+1. If sitting in the TL made me feel like I was in an Accord with a little extra ooomph, I could only imagine what this RL would feel like on the road. Exterior does nothing for me. After driving the G, I doubt driving dynamics will catch my attention. Interior, I gotta give it to Honda...they make some beautiful interiors. Even the Accord coupes have nice interiors. A+ on the interior!

I need more than just a nice interior to spend $50K. Acura can't move these RL's out the door because of the exterior's lack of style and excitement. Who really wants to pay $50K for a HONDA ACCORD. I'd rather buy a Chrysler 300 SRT8 ($47K) which includes a 6.1 liter 425hp hemi for the money.

Based on reviews, it looks like a cheaper M targeted more towards luxury and away from performance. Especially since the M has a 8 cylinder option (though without the AWD).

Depends on how important the money is for you, and whether you have a good or bad impression of Infinitis. If you ended up with a lemon, or otherwise didn't have good luck, then maybe you will be better disposed towards the RL.

I only have nits for my G, so I am still favorably disposed towards replacing it with another in 3-4 years. If I don't decide the car doesn't matter too much, and go cheaper.

Acura has been criticized for not offering a V-8, and some critics say the deficiency is reflected in its sales. Sales of the flagship RL sedan were down 33.7 percent to 10,799 units for the first 11 months of 2006. Sales for the entire division were off 4.6 percent for the period.
