Help, smell somethin burning

Hey guyz,

After i drive for a while, i get out of my car and i smell something that had been burned. Then i went to my rear wheels(Left and right) and it smelled like something has been burning.

What do you guyz think it could be?

I think that it could be:

a) the brakes are running low)
b) my tires are rubbing against my body. I have not lowered the car yet but i have audio equipment in the trunk(an amp and 2 10" Type S subs with custom fiberglass boxes in the back)

HELP!!! I had this!

How many miles are on your car? They put a protective coating on the exhaust for shipping, and it takes several hundred miles to burn off and smells kinda like a burned clutch.

Someone had a plastic bag get caught on their exhaust, and that produced a nasty burn smell as well.

You shouldn't have a burning smell from your brakes unless you're running the car really hard (track conditions, excessive breaking). This is doubtful.

If it's an electrical burned smell, check your new stereo equipment.

If it's a rubber smell, it could be the tires.. due to aggressive driving or rubbing.

Re: Help, smell somethin burning

I have about 26500 miles so far! ITS ME REZA!! :P I didn't drive that hard either. I think its tire rubbing! Electrical from the outside of the car? Is this possible? [censored]! I think i shoudl break out my subs and see whats up! I didn't use the subs tho, so this shouldn't be a problem!

ANYONE ELSE???

I smell the burning too, but I'm not sure what it is.

Oh, damn, but glad it's that! I am always trying to avoid plastic bags on the road, people probably think I'm nuts, but that smell is terrible! Hope it goes away soon!

Re: Help, smell somethin burning

I've noticed mine smell a little at the rear wheels after I forget to turn the VDC off and lay into 2nd on a turn. The VDC does break really hard, which is what I always attributed the smell to. Of course, I only smell this when I get out of the car walk by the back end.
