What are your thoughts on a 3.7 FD upgrade? I believe the new 2007 sedan has a 3.69 (3.7) FD.

I have the 3.91's in my 5AT Coupe & love them. I haven't done any 0-60 runs but city driving is much better. The tranny will act a bit weird with a 1/2 open throttle gear shift but the luanch is greatly increased. At WOT the car will literally jump off the line, it totally looses the lag that it had with the stock 3.36's.

What do you mean "act weird"? Are you talking about when you're driving in "D" or when you're shifting yourself?

I'm putting gears on my next car for sure.
That would be a great change instead of going to the 3.9:1, it would be a definite improvement but not drastic. All of the 1st gen automatic G35 RWD sedans and coupes came with the 3.357:1 final ratios, so a switch to the 3.538:1 gearset that is in the manual transmission models or the X models would be a nice mod.

It happens when I'm in "D", manumatic it doesn't happen at all. When I'm cruising and come off the throttle a bit, kinda like when getting on the freeway, and hit a shift point it almost feels like it's slipping. I have felt this before with the stock set up but not as pronounced. I'm not really worried about it. It doesn't happen that frequently.

Yeah, especially off the line. It's great for city driving. I would go on with some stories but I know it's not looked upon very highly here (street racing, that is)

1) Powerband
2) Tire height
3) Transmission gearing
4) Engine torque

It is quite possible to overgear a car and a 3.9 gear would do just that. Basically what will happen is the G35 will go too quickly through 1st and 2nd to give adequate acceleration. As for the 3.5 gear, I've tried it. I didn't have 3.5 gear in the diff, but I was running 23.5" drag radials which took my gearing from the stock 3.31 to a 3.55. On the same day, same track, the car WAS SLOWER with the 3.55 ratio. On average, it was .1 seconds and 2mph slower which was thanks in part to the early shift into 4th a few hundred feet short of the finish line. When the car his 4th, it just layed over. With the 26.2" stock height 17s, I am able to hold 3rd right until the finish or approximately 101mph.
Very detailed explanations and a good example of what I was trying to illustrate.

What was your 60' time on the 23.5" tire vs. the 26.2" tire? What was the weather like on the two runs?

I pulled 2.15-2.18s 60 foots on the 26.2" tires and 2.15-2.18 60 foots on the 23.5" tires. The density altitude was in the 1800' range (lower 70s, slightly humid, 900' elevation). All runs were on the same day. The car was actually hotter when running on the OEM wheels. Not that it makes a difference though because my car runs no quicker on a cold motor.
