mid winter detail...
well, the body shop washed my car ONCE and COMPLETELY screwed it up (you know bodyshops, those are the guys who specialise in paint and body
anyways. It didnt take to long to finish this one. Instead of zaino, I used Megs NXT which was much easier than the zaino process. I could not find any new pads...so I had to soak an old one in boiling water. i used that one pad the entire time (I know, not a smart idea, but it is all I had)
to furthur quicken the process, I combined two or more polishes on each pad...again, not the best idea but it still did the trick. had to clear the fog from the head lamps as well. I just used Mez FP2 on em'. didnt need any fancy plastic polish
so here we are - with my god awful - undrivable swirled up car. you can see how HORRIBLE and how STUPID these body shop guys are. it took me apprx 4 hours to polish the entire thing. I also had to remove some clear coat overspray on my windows. That quater panel is the repainted one....looks like they just attacked it with a orbital buffer + wool pad
i also performed an oil change and a lube job on the vehicle. Installed crawford plenum + AEM dryflow filter. The crawford really is 80% looks...even tho I do feel a stronger pull. It makes that anoying CAI whistle as well.
my belts are making noise....got to fix that as well. HF Cats still pending instal.
anyways, on to the pics!!
Before (but after wash + clay bar)

after

oh swirl, oh swirl, where are thou' swirl?!

yes, there is still some sealant i forgot to buff out...yea i'm lazy

no, I wouldnt dare clean my OEM wheels! does it really matter?!?! :-D

i also put some electrical tape in the door handles. It prevents your friends from scratching em up again. some tire/rubber/plastic dressing on the painted grill is a nice touch as well

Don't mean to be cynical but....
all the swirled up pics are in the sun and the "perfected" pics are at dusk. I don't know of any black car that shows swirls after the sun goes down; they only show in direct and bright sun light. Its funny that (in before/after) every before pic is in the bright sun and every after pic is at dark to show just how great the detailing work is. It does look great (at night) but show me pics in the same lighting so I can make an accurate comparison!!!!!

thats always a factor, but as you see, I tried my best to get those after shots in the sun.
i dont know what else to say as you could see that in some of the after pics (if you look closely), a few swirls remained
none the less, the surface is nicely burnished in the after pics - - as well as the increased gloss
