Rattle....any ideas?

I have this weird rattle in my 06 X that just developed. It seems like its coming from the drivers side door. It sounds almost metallic and only occurs over rough roads or things like manholes and railroad crossings. Funny thing is that is disapperas when the window is open. Any ideas?

I have exactly the same thing, sounds more like a nail rattling in an enclosed compartment... I tried searching for related bulletins but couldn't find anything

i have something simlimar and is starting to **** me off. It sounds like the exhaust is hitting the bottom of the car in the center where the center console is. It starts to rattle when the car starts to move and when im just plain driving. i dont know what it is have any idea guys?

Exactly....I thought it was the exhaust at first, but I don't think thats it. I wonder if it could be something with the window regulator. I read somewhere about some cars having problems with the regulator bolts and maybe the sound is the bolts hitting the glass in the window? and when the window is down they don't hit? Or maybe something in the door panel? Im going to bring it to the dealer next week.

i have an 04 X, rattles like a ****. the doors, the roof, the center console, everything.. so annoying! i told the dealership to handle it when i took it in for an oil change last week. they did something and the center console rattle was gone. today, i'm driving and hit a SMALL pothole and it starts rattling left and right. called up dealership again today to set up another appointment... i can't focus on driving cause of all that noise lol

I treid searching a bulletin on that, but the noise sounds like coming from the top of the driver's side window (not squeaking but more like rattling..), which is not found in any of the TSBs that I found online

Unless if it is really the regulator bolts that are making the noise

Door speaker is a definite possibility.

Try wrapping the window regulator cables in plenty of felt as they have a tendency to knock together, or to knock the door panels when going over bumps etc when the window is up. I did this and it stopped the same rattle you're describing, but in my '04.

Update. Dealer found the noise immediately. It was a bracket underneath the dash that was loose. Possibly from when the remote start was installed.
