It's an 8" sub in the rear deck.

IMO the non-bose sounds better but they both suck. I changed everything out.

I was fortunate enough to have a loaner for about 3 days while I was waiting for a part for my G. So, the loaner has the stock sound system and my car has the Bose. Here are my opinions:
At first try, the stock system sounded Better
But after having the chance to listen for a few days, with varied music and under various conditions, I realize that the Bose really is better. The highs are crisper without sounding harsh and the lows are better because you can hear each bass note and not just the boom boom.
My taste in music does not include the latest type of music so these observations are based on '70's and older music.
Just my .02.

I was very unimpressed with the Bose application on this car. What's really weird is that the Bose on my 03 Altima was better. I would have expected the opposite.....

Other cars that I've recently owned have blown my G35 Bose system away. Volvo S60R and Charger SRT8 are a couple of examples in addition to the 03 Altima.

I really don't have a prob with my Bose system. Then again i don't really care about sound quality, If i did i wouldn't have a Borla exhaust.

IMO all stock systems suck...the only stock stereo that has impressed me is my wifes VW Touareg. It has a Monsoon 450 watt stereo that sounds awesome. My system in my G is using a JL Audio Clean Sweep, to integrate the stock stereo to my amps and works great and gives an aux input for Ipod or sat radio..

I'm with Graphite05G ... its just really hard for the OEMs to compete with $1-2K of aftermarket customization. IMO, Infiniti should not have been touting the new Bose setup as so revolutionary - it really got expectations way up and they did not deliver

You mean sound quality as far as audio right? (not the sound of the exhaust vs other exhausts) I for one love how the Borla sounds but you can hear it inside the car.

$1-2k. That would be nice.
My deck was that much alone at dealer cost.

I love my Borla also its like you said you can here it in the car witch effects the quality of your radio/CD listening, so if i really cared about the sound quality of the bose i would not have a borla Exhuast.

Here's my $0.02.

Bose relies on low-impedence highly efficient speakers and low to medium power amplifiers. This is a nice concept for a home system, but it does not translate well to severe environments like automobiles. Bose speakers are in the 2 ohm range with efficiencies exceeding 100 dB at 1 watt/meter. This is at the top of the scale, but it means light weight speaker materials which are susceptible to moisture and vibration.

They also use multiple amplifiers... as many as one per speaker. When you lose a speaker it usually means a bad amp. This equates to megabuck repairs either way; you have to buy a Bose amp or rip and replace the whole system, since the Bose speakers ARE NOT compatible with ANY other amps on the market.

My G has Bose. Came with the Premium C pack. If it were up to me I would have taken the factory system, or even deleted it and done my own.

Bose ain't worth the bucks.

Amen Bro - We got the 3rd level stereo upgrade for the Monsoon...after having a Passat with monsoon I was totally impressed wtih my wife's Toaureg after hearing it. Part of it is the sound insulation in the car. The doors are triple sealed and the sub is pretty good for a stocker. The center speaker and 2 tweets in each door don't hurt either. It's the best system I have ever heard from the dealer.

If you want a really cheap and audibly better sound for the upper range on your G, try out polk audio or similar tweeters. This was one of my first mods and beats the stock tweets by a mile. Try just changing one channel and you'll hear the difference like night and day. I didn't want to rip out the entire system and this was about 65 bucks installed by me.
