Cool My G35 just turned into a CES car (pics inside)

Hey everyone,

Just redid a lot of my install to make everything more stable, better looking, and CES-able. Speaking of that, I'll be there. Take a looksee at my new trunk here:

http://weblogs.asp.net/ajuneja/archi...e-we-come.aspx

And the center console is redone too, that's a surprise too, no pics of that yet!

Got Focal BE's in front now, too, the K2p's in back, and a JL 10W7.

And for those who are new and have no idea what I do, please visit http://www.speakwithme.com

and then wait about 1-2 yrs till we ship stuff! (sorry it takes so long to get this stuff into production).

Hey Ajay,

That setup looks absolutely incredible- exponentially better than your previous setup and definitely CES worthy. Good to hear that your business is progressing, but I have to ask, why are you still doing work on the G35? You've got an RS4!!!

Very nice and clean but I have been to CES many times and that is not CES material. Most of the big CES cars take 3-12 months or more to build. I did a lot of the fiberglass work on a car that was in the PPI booth a few years back.

Mostly cause of time constraints -- we decided reworking a known car was easier than doing up a new car -- the G35 took 6 months to work out nagging electrical issues and vibration problems -- had to re-wind the alternator (extra 35 amps) and there is a custom mount for the hard drives (and some special foam around them) as well as for the computer itself.

Having a computer in the car is honestly a pain and even though I got everything to work reliably regardless of climate, speed, vibrations, etc. - I'd still prefer a double din headunit and I can't wait till we have our prototype headunits ready.

Even still, this is why y'all haven't seen my g35 since august -- this install did take 3 months to do.

So I made the call at the last minute to hold off doing up the RS4 until our prototype headunit is ready -- actually what we're doing is doing it up starting early next year with a different headunit, and then swapping the headunits when our prototypes are ready. (Who we're selling to, I am not allowed to say yet). I just couldn't stomach putting another computer in - and not having that seamless experience in the Audi. One of the perks I am likely to have is full CAN-Bus access, and with the Audi's center screen that can be quite handy!

Also, I really just wanted the G35 done right, kinda as a swan song for it, but really, I need a car I can lend to a salesperson and not be as worried about it.

The RS4 being 420HP and a manual - would you trust a sales or marketing person with it? There are currently only 2 people other than myself involved with Speak With Me who I trust with the RS4 - Ed Lin (G35Lin on the board here - internal marketing) and Susan Trainer (my external marketing & PR person - she owns a Dodge Viper). No one else is ever given the keys.

As for more work/glitz for the install -- this is a daily driven car with more than 47,000 miles on it, and we're not selling the audio, we're selling the user interface! Oh, and a certain product planner from a certain rather well known headunit manufacturer, gave the car and the install and the user interface a very awesome compliment. We might happen to be moving forward with them too...
