My G35x is getting HKS Rotrex Supercharger installed right now,
The Felcon Piggy back was put on first to test if teh ECM are compatable. & it works fine, car starts. The blower is on, they have ~5 hr work left, External injectors, belts, new spark plugs etc.
I didn't want to go with Vortex, some one with 04X blew the transmission with it. I'll pick up my car Tuesday!

ma_sha,
keep me updated and post up pics as soon as you get it complete. If you dont mind me asking, how much is this costing you in total? What made you go with this system over vortech/stillen?
neal,
If I dont go the boosted route i will probably be doing the basics, Crawfordz plenum, stillen intake/ztube, exhaust. Still have to decide.

There was only one guy did vortech on x, and had a broken Transmission a month later, from What I know the X has a weak transmission. This may be one-off incident, but so far the 100% broken record on X made me not willing to commit to Vortech.
I choose the HKs becaues it's very conservative non-turnable box gives only 80-100 WHP similar to Stillen (The blower from Rotrex is good for 200 whp but the HKS Felcon box limits it down for safety). Reputation is that it's very safe, quiet & High quality build with few belt problems seen on Vortech or Stillen. The only problems are:
1, They are the most expensive S/C kit, list price $7200, with some internet shops on sale for $6000 from time to time.
2, HKS no longer make the Rotrex model because the relationship with Rotrex broke, so i had to look for a uesd one. There are many Z with HKS Rotrex, so I was looking for a while on my350z.com. It's only a matter of time, somebody
de-mode their HKS S/C.
Cost break down:
HKS S/C , $3000, used about 9000 miles
Comes with Blower, External Injectors & Felcon E Piggy back.
Installation estimated to be $2000 at dealer (I am sure if I am in So Cal, it could be installed much cheaper).
Transmission Temp. Pod: $50, Install $100, Dealer found a blank hole in rear of the Transmission that was meant for sensors.
AEM Wide band AFR Gauge: $250 , Install $150. Dealer was able splice into OE Wide band O2 sensor.
Dual Pod holder; $10 from ebay, I did custom job my self to make it fit.
One step colder Iradium spark plugs: $50, install $150.
Transmission cooler, $50, decided not to install for now.
(The T sensor tell me that T. only ~125 in winter, as long it it doesn't go above 175, no need for cooler)
Transmission fluid complete reflush. $170.
Total materials: $3410
Total labor: $2570
Total Cost: $5980, I think this is pretty good small budget FI, consider what I've seen most FI total cost way above $10,000.
If you are in So cal, you could easily save $1000 on labor, we have no tunner shops here in Maine & I had to use infiniti dealer. If you are a handymen, You could save most of the labor cost.

That is a very good deal for everything installed. Looks like you got a good deal on the SC kit and that helps a lot. Is that one non-intercooled? If so, someone in a warmer area would want to have a custom IC made for it. It would not need to be that large but enough to help reduce detonation. I would never own any kind of FI without an intercooler.

If you boost the 5AT the valve body upgrade is a must. Ironically I blew my tranny about a week after a friend of mine suggested that I get one. Learned it the hard way. There are many threads about it on this site and my350z.com. Since I fixed my tranny everythings fine 10K miles later. Knock on wood.

Xmen,
I almost decided to do valve body upgrade but decided against it.
I read almost All the post about it & stated a few as well. The results
was inconclusive. With half of people says great & half saying useless.
Another reason, The same tranny is used in the Q, therefore, should be able to handle 100 more hp, that's what the HKS will get at most. At 300-320 Whp,
plenty of 350z 5AT runnig S/C without VB upgrades.
I also found an early post from you that you have used Mobil transmission
fluid, which is known to blow G transmission. Therefore, I am not sure
what was the reason you broke your transmission, becaues you upgraded VB & also switched back to OE fluid.

2. My engine oil fluid has changed from dino to Mobil to Amsoil.
Good Luck and please don't get them confused.
Thanks,

Sorry, I must remembered wrong, it was long time ago.
The HKS only gives ~300WHP, thet's why I am not too concerned.
Also, I called up dealer & they told me each sedan 5At has different
Tranny & valve body, so it's hard to transfer knowledge from one year & apply to the other year:
Here is what I have on Part numbers:
2004 G35 Sedan 5AT
Tranny: Part # 3102M-91X17RE; Valve Body Part # 31705-90X71
2005 G35 Sedan 5AT
Tranny: Part # N/A. Valve Body Part # 31705-AC70A
2005 G35x Sedan (My Car)
Tranny: Part # 31020-AL81A; Valve Body Part # 31705-AC81A

IMO, you're walking on egg shells with a boosted 5AT. This tranny just wasn't desiged for that power. Luckily, blowers like the rotex, Vortec, and ATI don't add much torque therefore they won't be as taxing on the tranny as a roots style blower like the Stillen. Regardless, the additional 70-90whp will take it's toll on the clutch packs on the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts.
