To me, this is clearly a FAULTY design for which Infinity should have recalled all G35, as opposed to just offering a 36k/3-year warranty (which I wasn't aware of).

In my 40 years of driving career, I have never heard of such a problem with any other car.

This is why I am consulting with my lawyer about initiating a Class Action suit against them. To be effective, and interesting for a law firm to pursue, I'll need to come up with as many complainants as possible, and the more the merrier.

Please contact me if you are as pss'd off as I am.

Thanks, Yair Barniv, ybalias-travel@yahoo.com

Do you have the Brembos or no?

If he saying he missed the brake warranty then prob not. Beside he posted in the sedan section so it must be a sedan.

short brake life

My rotors warped at 17k, but the dealer replaced both the front rotors and pads saying it was routine maintence. I don't stop short, nor ride my brakes and I have never had a car wear out brakes this fast, but the brakes are great....now I have to find replacement ones that last longer. The price of short stops...if you need them.

class action already happened... all 04 and earlier have 36K warranty... mine have been replaced twice free of charge.

If your dealer is charging you are going to the wrong place and should not trust them with your car at all because they are out to screw you not take care of you.

If you read through the great info out here you would find VERY easily a TON of info on this subject (brake warranty).

I was reading the post and am confused about something.

What is this about 2004 cars and 3 year/36k brake replacement thing? Does it mean that if your brakes are wearing out withing the warrently, they will give you free replacement? (i have the brembo on my 04 coupe, and after 24k, they are almost done...)

Please please let me know.

Thanks

I find it funny that you don't hear BMW/Benz/Audi owners complaining about the brake wear on their cars. German cars chew through pads and rotors just as quickly (~25-30K miles) as the G35. It's the nature of the beast if you want class-leading braking performance. You could save yourself about $380 doing the work yourself and buying a set of Brembos replacement rotors ($50/ea from the Tirerack) and OEM pads ($45). It takes about 1 hour to do the entire job yourself with a 12mm-14mm-18mm sockets, a breaker bar, c-clamp, rubber mallet, and floor jack.

BMW people probably don't complain as recently they have been offering free maintanance for the 1st 3-4 years.

Cato,

Just wondering how a judgment could be awarded if the case were thrown out of court?

Class action was thrown out. The individuals representing the class won their case, as I had about 5 sets of brakes by 60K miles.

It also has a lot to do with driving style and those massive rims you have. If you're an aggressive driver, you will obviously smoke through brakes and rotors quicker. My 03's front rotors and pads lasted until 37K miles and the rear pads lasted until 42K miles. Those 20" rims on your car add a lot of additional unsprung weight and rotational mass therefore making the brakes work much harder.
